When it don't and just the tiniest bit of moisture forms inside. on the electric circutry, the engine will either not start or it will run bad and die at stops, Whats worst is it connot be fixed. it can only be replaced'
FYI I got mine open dired it out s.ealed it back. It worked

FUEL FILTER,,IF IT IS OLD-REPLACE!
FUEL PUMP NOT REALLY SUSPECT.....BUT POSSIBLE AS IN A THERMAL SHORTING (AFTER A SHORT TIME)
YOU HAVE TO DETERMINE WHETHER THIS DELAYED STALL ISSUE, IS COMING FROM A FUEL OR ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. IE: ELECTRIC CUT OUT...SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER...FUEL ISSUES: ROUGH RU..THEN SHUTS DOWNNING, BUCKING & SURGING
IF YOUR NOT FIXED...JEFF AT: JLGPROP@!YAHOO.COM THE WORX GROUP L.L.C.
You need to test your alternator to see if it is properly charging your battery. Start your jeep and remove the positive connector from the battery. If your vehicle stalls you may need an new alternator. Also check the following issue that could cause you to stall, clogged fuel filter, choke not properly operating, faulty emissions system components, distributor cap damaged or wet, bad spark plug wires, leak in your vacuum system intake manifold or hoses. Also check your spark plugs for wear or improper gapping.
Hi It sounds like an air fault, most likely the air mass sensor to the air box or it could be that there is a split i a vacuum pipe or air intake pipe check all round them to ensure no rips or tears on the underside of hard to see pipes.
the other thing it could be is poor spark as you said you can smell fuel one of the plugs or HT leads may be defective causing a lack of spark thus the smaell of fuel, sometimes the spark can still work but be very weak not igniting the fuel correctly, lastly some moisture may be getting in to where the spark plugs are or around the coils, HT leads etc, get some damp start and spray all over the electrics if you susoect this.
