What happens if I put steering fluid in brake fluid container?

That's a problem. Power steering is a heavy slick fluid, very similar to transmission fluid (my daughter's BMW actually takes ATF fluid in the power steering reservoir). Brake fluid is very thin, solvent-like fluid. I advise getting the system drained, flushed and refilled ASAP.

How to add power steering fluid to 2008 pontiac g6

If you can't find a power steering fluid reservoir under the hood in the engine compartment your G6 could have Electronic Power Steering . If you look up under the dash below the steering column you will see a electric motor mounted to the steering column !
The power steering system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the powertrain control module (PCM), body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), discrete battery voltage supply circuit, steering shaft torque sensor, steering wheel position sensor, power steering motor, driver information center (DIC), and the serial data circuit to perform the system functions. The PSCM and the power steering motor are serviced as an assembly and are serviced separately from the steering column assembly. The steering shaft torque sensor and the steering wheel position sensor are not serviced separately from each other or from the steering column assembly. The steering column assembly does not include the power steering motor and module assembly.

No fluids are consumed on any vehicle

a leak to repair

Have a repair shop educate you

How frequent should I change my power steering fluid? I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX with 70524 miles.

You should never have to replace the power steering fluid in your vehicle. But if you still want to, the best way is to use a turkey baster and pull as much fluid out of the reservoir and into a suitable container, then refill the power steering reservoir.

I have black oil like in my power steering how do I change the power steering

I found the easyest way is to take a hose off the power steering rack and drain it, then refill with clean fluid, being a Ford I would sugest adding Lucus power steering fluid as well, it will extend the life of the rack and the seals throughout the system

ATF fill station indicates the fluid is low in my 2001 3 series BMW. What is the fluid used for? What do I use to refill the fluid

Hi,
The ATF stands for Automatic Transmission Fluid which controls your power steering. You might have observed your steering has gotten a bit more stiff... or will eventually get to this. This ATF is different from the hydraulic fluid which controls your brakes. You need to take it to a BMW automechanic who would top it up. It is sold in containers like hydraulic...you will buy it and give it to mechanic for refilling. The container for this is in the bonnet just below the windscreen almost at bottom of engine. also ensure that the lid is not open and the container is not broken in any way to leak the ATF

Water accidently pet in power steering

You need to drain the power steering, it won't be working fine if u don't correct it now. You must remove one of the hoses, start the vehicle while someone watches the flow of fluid, as soon as it stops draining, turn off the car, reconnect the hose, and fill w/ the proper fluid. To get the air out of the lines, (after refilling to cold mark),start car, turn wheels back and forth several times, recheck level, repeat if necessary countrycurt0
