Question about 2002 Kia Spectra
Where is the air filter located on a 2002 Kia Spectra? The check engine light comes on and off on my Kia Spectra LS. I have noticed, it does not come on when the weather is colder outside, but when the weather warms up, it will come on, whats causing this? Can I possibly fix the problem by installing another air filter?
There is also a "Cabin Filter" behind the glove box. Open the box, press in the sides and the box will drop down further to reveal an area about 1 inch high and about 8 inches long - pull that open and the filter will be there.
Another thing, you SHOULD NEVER do with THIS car is "Top-off" the gas tank. There is an "over-flow" canister that will cause the "Check engine" light to come on. To fix that simply open the gas cap, start the can and let it run for a minite or two, turn the car off but leave the cap off for another hour or so. Put the cap back on, start the car and the light should go off - if not repeat the process. This REALLY works.

The air filter is in a black box beside the battery
