Question about 1993 Subaru Loyale
My 93 subaru loyale with 5 spd manual gearbox has been stuck in 4wd for 3 days now. the button on shifter is up. i tried going forward and backward a dozen times. it's been extremely cold lately. 8 degrees at night, and 29 degrees daytime yesterday. what can i check next ?
Apparently, their is an electrically controlled, vaccuum servo located below the spare donut tire under the hood which is malfunctioning. It is connected to a lever on the side of transmission, by a cable. A temporary fix is to get the lever to move forward by hand. Jack up the car on the passenger side. Between the two transmission cross members, above the exaust pipe behind the catylictic converter, you will see the lever connected to the cable. Push lever forward towards motor to disengage rear wheels. This will allow you to travel on a hard road until you can get to a mechanic.
