a mechanic at the city of jxn garage that works on our city vehicles, said that there is a circuit board behind the wiper motor casing that can go bad and can cause that to happen. he said just locate the black casing that the wiper motor is in, remove it, and it is in there, and just replace it, because he said that is it is the switch inside, you have to get to the third bolt on the switch by taking the steering wheel off.

sounds like a bad multifunction switch (turn signals, washer, wipers).

This is caused by a short in the multifunction switch. The arm that provides these features develops a short inside the steering column. The switch is the arm assembly and bolts inside the column. Medium level of difficulty to repair but you must buy entire switch.

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel slt no intermintant wipers have installed new ctm and programmed by the dealer new multifunction switch and wiper motor still only works on high no delay or lo

The motor could have a bad low winding. Intermittent always uses low.
The problem could also be a bad connector pin going to the motor low winding. If you have a schematic, you can ground the pin to see if low runs.
Hope this helps.

My 1999 Ford Taurus wipers only work on High and the washer pump works but no wipers. What could be the problem? I have read 4 things: Motor, Wires, Switch, or a GEM?

Well, it wouldnt be the motor if it works on high, if it was the motor it would not work at all. Wires are good because there is power getting to the motor. Most likely cause is the wiper switch. Thats the control for voltage flow to the wiper motor.

1995 tarus wiper problem

it might be the delay relay that goes to the wiper switch or the switch itself cause the it has two different circuits that runs the wiper the twist knob goes to a relay and the washer button goes straight to the motor

1988 Ford Taurus Turn Signals do not work

Yes, it certainly could be the switches in the windshield wiper stalk off of the steering column.
From day one, my (used 14K) 93 Taurus turn signals worked in some positions of the wiper speed and not in other positions of the wiper speed. Fortunately, they always work when the windshield wipers are off.

Flashing lights

Hi, had the same problem today. Solution: Start engine, blower on max, air direction to cabin, press rear wiper and rear wash buttons simulanteously for 5 seconds (all lights now on steady). Calibration test starts and lights flsh alternately. After first test, AC and recurculation lights flash for the cool down test. If all test pass then rear wiper light blinks slowly (press to exit self test). If AC and recurculation test fails then just 2 lights stay on. To repeat this part of the test press just AC and rear wash simulanteously ( may take several attempts and usually best when engine is cold). Again exit by pressing the rear wiper button once it is the only one flashing (slow blink).

This does work but it took me 15 minutes to finally switch them off!!!
