Water leaking into trunk of a 2002 hyundai accent (2dr)

I had water leaking into my trunk and under the backseat each time it was raining and noticed, after taking everything off the trunk and going to the car wash, that the water was coming from the air vent located close to the wheel well under the bumper... I just dont understand why there is water coming from that side (driver) and not from the other side (passenger, there's two air vents in the trunk of these cars). I was tinking about sealing it with a metallic sheet or something do you think that I really need two of these air vents ? Do you have any idea why is the water leaking in the car ? Thanx a lot

Yes I am almost 100% sure ! I just cant use a garden hose right now because it's winter here thats why I went to the car wash.. It a 2dr car so the rear windows does not open...

Problem solved ! one bolt was missing (in fact its head has been cut or something.. the car probably had and accident before I bought it).. It was the one behind the rear wheels joining the mud gard and the bumper to the frame of the car... I just put a new one and fixed the problem !

Are you sure it's the vent? usually the water leaks in from the rear window. you can test this by getting a garden hose and running it over the window and seeing where the water is coming in from.

SOURCE: 2002 hyundai accent codes p1529 and p0734

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp.
P0734 basically indicates that your transmission is slipping.
You need to take this car to an authorized repair center for hyundai cars. Replacing the filter and fluid on the transmission might save this transmission but I would be willing to bet that a total transmission rebuild is in order.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Lexus ES300 trunk leaks when it rains

This may sound odd but if you can put a small person in the trunk with a flashlight while you pour water in the areas suspected, they can trace the leaking area, believe it or not I used to use this method while I was a Ford mechanic. Otherwise, maybe you can apply clear or black silicone to the area or remove the screw or bolt and coat it with silicone and replace it.

I would have to agree it's an electrical problem. It might simply be a defective trunk lid latch switch. Here's the wiring diagram:

Rain leaks

NO, it is most likely getting in through the cowl vent area under the wipers. Normally the water drains out the inner fender, but if its clogged with leaves and pine needles, it wont drain and will fill up past the cool air intake and get into the cabin. I would pull the cowl vent grille and make sure the drains are not clogged.

Water in the trunk of my 2002 intrepid

If you notice it after it rains, it could be a poorly sealing gasket for the trunk lid, or a leaking tail light.

My car wont start when it rains

well, rain and snow is water, so it could be water is getting into something preventing the car from starting. maybe you have loose wires under your wiper grill at the bottom of your windscreen and the rain is shorting the electrics out, or even your doors could be letting rain inside shorting the electrics as your speakers terminals are not really protected with anything just a plastic clip. and of course electric mirrors if you have them?
common sence says to me you have a leak somewhere by you saying when it rains or snows. check all the roof, sun roof, door paneling, under the bonnet, boot door, all the elctrics you can get access to, and look for wet patches or puddles, if you see any near any buttons, wires etc you can be sure your electrics are shorting out. dont know if it helps but hope its somewhat helpful to you

I have noticed that in really wet weather (moved to Vancouver recently), my 2002 Hyundai Accent GSI starts to smell bad (like wet carpet). Upon inspection, the back seats feel damp to touch and when I lift...

Check the trunk rubber for damage and/or improper mounting. There will ordinarily be drain holes in the area where the tail light assemblies mount to the back of the car. If they are plugged up, the water will have nowhere to go when it rains, and will seep through the gasket between the tail light housings and the body metal. If unable to find the problem, have someone soak the back of the car in the trunk / tail light area with a garden hose, and watch for water intrusion from inside the trunk with a flashlight (hopefully, the rear seat backs flip down so you can gain access to the trunk from inside the car). Good luck!

My sunroof is leaking a lot onto the front seats. More after rain, but it still leaks for a few days after rain.

While its raining the water is running thru the seal, after the rain the seal shrinks.

2000 Hyunadi Sonata has water in the trunk

The majority of cars like these have a small dollar coin size piece of foam/rubber that plugs a drain hole. It may have been put on at the factory with some type of glue/adhesive so it may not be the easiest thing to take out. You may have to take out the spare tire (not sure on this car). You may want to try and re-do the foam/rubber stripping around the seals of the trunk. It is not the hardest thing in the world to do (in order to stop the water altogether)..
