Question about 1998 Ford Escort

1 Answer

Hey, you seem very knowledgeable.

I have been reading your answers, I have just discovered this site and have been fixing cars for 30 years, and you really know your stuff. I am trying to learn this site and how to capitalize on it. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your request. It is funny you should ask that. I stumbled on to Fixya about a month ago while looking for an answer for a problem and while looking at someone's question I thought "Heck! I know what's wrong with this person's problem" and so on an impulse, I signed up and answered his question (right at this point, I can't remember if I helped that first person or not! must be getting old!). If you are really looking to make money off the site, sign on alot and always list yourself as avaible and answer the questions that will make you money, but be aware that those questions get droves of answers so you have to be quick on the draw. I must admit I must be touched in the head because I like answering questions that relate to the computer field because I work in it for 8+ hours a day. I figure if you can answer a question without being at or around the equipment it will help your mental process when you do have that happen at work. Or lets put it this way, it helps me in my daily work and helps keep it fresh in my mind, your milage may vary. I also try and answer questions that I know I can explain and I try to remember what it was like to know nothing about the questions I'm answering and fashion my answer to help the people who truly don't know, care or understand why the answer works but to give them the information they need to either fix their problem or make an informed decision about how to proceed to fix their problem, The site is pretty straight forward for the most part and isn't hard to learn but remember that is coming from a person who has had a computer since 1984 and hasn't been without a computer since I purchased my first computer. I hope that answers your questions and If I can help again, please ask. It might take me a day or two to answer (sometimes life gets a bit crazy!) but I will answer when I get the chance to.

Once again, thank you for asking, I hope that helps!

Stuck key in ignition in automatic transmission car - a simple answer

On two occasions over 30 years I have been unable to remove the key from the ignition. On both occasions it was rubbish in the storage area pushing back on the gear lever. This does not allow the inhibit switch to turn off. The last time it was the peak of a cap very gently pushing back on the gear lever in the P Park position. Perhaps it had pushed it back only a millimetre but this was enough to not allow the key to be removed from the ignition. I called out assistance but fixed it myself after he failed for 30 minutes. Do not allow tto much stuff to accumulate in front of the transmission lever.

98 Honda CR-V scan shows misfiring on multiple cylinders but smoothed out at driving speed. When I checked while idling only #3 wasn't firing? I put new wires on it and no change Cap and rotor new

Most misfires will tend to smooth out at higher speeds so that knowledge is of limited use.

If it misfired on multiple cylinders all at once it would stop or at least not be able to attain "driving speed". You seem to be describing a case of rough running that could have it's roots in several things either separately or indicate a general malaise.

A few years ago I read a technical report stating the CR-V suffered a power loss when the engine oil level became low. Other than that the root could be from bad injectors to erratic sparks which only systematic checking is likely to discover.

My name is Mansour i asked a question about my 2015 town and country.when you say answer in minutes.that means minutes or like 2500 minutes

it means that you will get an answer when someone takes the time to read the question, decipher what you mean to ask, look for additional information that you forgot to include and then probably could not be bothered to answer
every answer you get is from a person who has experienced the problem, has experience on your machine or knows the fix
posts are not linked so this post means nothing

Please My Toyota Previa 1990 Model Just Stopped Starting.Checking The Kick Under,I Discovered A Wire Has Disconnected From The Kick Which I Dont Know Where It Belongs.Kindly Help Me.It Is Not Rolling.

i am going to reccomend that you take time and get to looking for the spot where that wire came off. Once you get that hooked back up you may just get to rolling again. Just examine the area around where you think that wire may have been hooked up. It really is satisfying to fix your own stuff so take a little time and figure it out. Good luck

Can I reset the engine management by disconnecting the battery if it's gone into limp mode

NO
disconnecting the battery some times fixes minor problems but generally it creates more than it solves
read the fault codes first to find the area problem so that it can be fixed , then use the scan tool to reset the ECM

Do you ever fricking answer a ? I posted the hammer question over a week ago. If this. Is your rate of answer frick it, this site sucks

Richard. This site is "manned" with volunteers for answering questions. Every one has his / her speciality. I invest some hours, to see if I can help anyone. I do have to skip the questions I can't answer. My knowledge is in electronics, photography and a little less about cars and engines. Mechanical tools are not in my knowledge base, so I skip those.
It could be last week no one with the right knowledge to answer noticed your question. You did not have the luck to get an answer. Lots of people do get an answer, and I know as soon as they get a good answer they are pleased. Lots of people thanked me for my answers. These "thank you Harrie" is everything I answer for. I understand you are disappointed your question was not answered, and I can't answer it, because I don't know enough about drill hammers. But is that a reason to give an opinion like this?
I could understand your reaction, if you had payed for an answer and nothing was delivered. But it hurts me to read your question here. This is everything I want to say.
Sorry.

How can i fix

Michael, do you have a question for us on Fixya? or are you just posting statements?
To give a question a chance to be answered, please give as much details as you have. Brand, model, error you discovered, things you already tried to solve the problem and what you think we can help with. We can't read thoughts, only answer questions.
