It might be the switch on the dashboard. lucky for me mine had only managed to unplug itself. but if its bad im told its an expensive part 200 or so bucks though i heard something about an aftermarket part

Something you can do is to tap the 4/4 motor under drivers side on the back of transfer case with key on engine off. Have someone work the buttons as you gently tap the motor. Don't hit so hard as to dent it. Usually works.
sounds like the horn contact terminal inside the steering wheel got disconnected and is hitting a metal part of the steering column which triggers the horn. the terminal that got disconnected is probably has positive polarity and the metal part of the steering column has negative polarity. If they come in contact with each other... *honk* *honk*
I have a 1992 ford explorer 4x4, transmission will not pull at all, in any gear, could this be an actuator motor problem? I went to some other forum be no one said anything about no gears just it would not shift from 4 to 2 wheel drive,I have no gears. Thanks for any help Bert
First check your 4 wheel drive switch to make sure it works, for on an off settings. (Use a volt-ohm meter for this. On should show continuity in the readings (if digital then it should show zeros in the dial) Off should show no continuity or 1.0 in the dial.
1. Check your fuses.
2, IF OK, then check your FUSE LINKS.
3. IF OK, then check your 4 Wheel Drive relay in the fuse box.
4. IF OK, then check continuity of the wires harness to the 4 wheel drive switch for DC voltage.
