Question about 1987 Nissan 300ZX

1 Answer

Can't get any heat at all.

My 87 300zx 5speed manual is very nice except no heat, cold air only. It has the climate control system and even the defrost is cold. It says demist/defrost and both selections give out only cold air. Help please. Thanks, Daniel

Begin by warming up engine.  The from under the hood hold both heater hoses to confirm that heater core is getting hot water.  If hoses are not hot then the fault is likely to be the thermostat stuck in the open position.  If hoses are hot, then you must access the heater box, behind the glove box. there is a blend door which must move from cold to hot.  Check this and keep me posted.

If you have owners manual check that your climate control settings are as you expect them to be, if that makes sense. Some on Fixya do not realise they gave climate control , they think they have normal A/C and try to correct chimerical problems. Please check and repost

My 1988 bmw 325i had the entire a/c system removed will that affect the heat on my climate control also

Hi Vince.
No this shouldn't affect the heat on your climate control, as the air-con is a separate entity the heat is transferred from the engine, but the air-con cold is a complete unit on its own so should not affect heating the car, just cooling it inside. hope that helps

Heat comes thru driver's side vents, but blows cold air thru passenger side vents

You likely have a faulty blend door. It could be electrically, mechanically related, or even a broken door. It may be the blend door motor, or possibly the temp sensor.

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

Heat on, blows cold air on passenger side

u will need to repair the passenger side air temp control blend door, either the door is stuck or the small electric actuator that moves it is defective.

it is the control module u set for heat/ac in the center of the dash, all the electronics are in side this module that do the switching and maintain the temp u set

A/C Heater problems

the main issue with this is either the thermostat or the climate control switch I do not know if your climate control switch is electronic or manual either way I would start out with the cheapest and go with the thermostat first good luck!

Climate control codes

I have checked every site that I can think of and run the question many times, unable to get the procedure, maybe a nice tech at the local dealer will help u out, if not I guess buying a service manual might be your only option. I am a retired Ford mechanic, I did almost all the AC work, I never found this problem was a control head issue, it was always the blend door electric motor, I think you can see it from the glove box if you remove the liner.
