If you are talking about the fluid for the hydraulic clutch system it requires DOT 3 Brake fluid available at any gas staition or auto parts place. It Also should say on the cap of the clutch master. This requires two people to blead out air. Also may need to pump petal repeededly with bleeder closed to pump out air bubbles.

Under normal driving the fluid never needs to be changed except if it is being serviced for a problem. It should use Dexron VI fluid.

have a pressure test done on the transmission to determine if there is mechanical failure in side. Remove the pan and do a check of the band and clutch packs as something may have broken . The sudden changing of direction under rpm's will cause damage to the mechanicals in the box.

There should be a vent tube on your transmission. Check to make sure it is not plugged. Did it do it before you changed the fluid and filter? To properly check fluid level the vehicle needs to be running and warm and in park on a level surface. Just in case you didn't already know. IF your vent tube is open and fluid level is correct you must have internal problems.

Cant bleed clutch changed both cylinders still no clutch

does the slave cylinder have a bleeder? it should. auto parts stores sell hand-operated vacuum pumps for bleeding brakes. i have used mine to pull fluid through clutch hydraulics to get enough pressure to commence the regular bleeding process. hope this helps.

sounds like the fluid has broke down. the brake fluid is ranged for certain tempatures. u may need to flush it and perhaps change it from dot3 to dot4 depending on how much driving u r doing.

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.

Fluid type in 1985 gmc sierra k2500 4x4 aluminum transfer case

You can use the same ATF as the transmission or a synthetic ATF for GM Transmission. Most guys will use normal ATF and mix Lucas ATF transmission additive to it, to make the fluid last longer. Good luck and hope this helps. There was two types of transfer case available to your truck. NP205 takes 5.1 pints NP208 takes 10.0 pints

Difficulty changing from 1st to 2nd in my 4x4

Tarpgrove:

Does the car grind when you put it into reverse? If so, the clutch is not fully disengaging and needs to be most likely bled or adjusted. It Is the clutch hydraulic oil they changed, correct?

If it does not grind when putting into reverse, I would ask the shop that did the clutch if they changed the fluid in the trans. And if so, what fluid they used. Check your owners manual for the correct fluid specification.

Also if your clutch was replaced because it was dragging, not because of slipping, you may have done some damage to 2ed gear synchronizer causing this problem as well.

Regards and and good luck.
