What year k-5? The k5 from about 1971 to about 1982 used the th350 or th400 they for it's auto trans and both use a vacuum line if the line has gone bad or is not attached or if the vacuum modulator is bad the trans will not shift. In 1982 gm came out with the th700r4 (4l60) and used this trans untill 1993. If you have this trans or the newer 4l60E the trans will most likely need to be rebuilt. The 4l60E is what gm used from 1993 until 2005.

I have a 01 vw jetta it won't shift at. All. Why

what kind trany you have 4 speed automatic or 5 speed tiptronic?is it stuck in 3rd gear(limp mode) ? if it is you probably have bad TCM or conection.in very few cases could be valve body inside trany.

Need to fix the slipping on an automatic transmission

change the trany fluid and filter. get some lucas transmission treatment and put it in before you put your trany fluid in. after all fluids are in and everything is together start the vehicle and hold foot on brake and go through the gears it might slip a lil the first 5 min of driving or until fluid works through trany.

2000 blazer won't go into reverse. Loud whining noise.

This may be due to a bad pump, but first check the trany oil, with the engine running and warm check the level of trany oil in the trany, if its low that would be your problem but if full then i would say its time for a trany rebuild, hope this helps.

Transmission,gear shifting

Your blazer's transmission is controled by the ECM. You could have a bad speed sensor or wire harness. best thing to do is have your blazer scaned like at Auto Zone since they do it there for free and keep an eye on your transmission fluid. Don't want to burn out your trany.
Good luck and hope this helps. Ps you can alway try diconnecting your battery for a few seconds with your ignition key's on run postion.

2002 Sunfire No Reverse

the reverse is the first thing to go out in your transmition. Check trani fluid while car is hot and idling in park on level surface if needed add trani fluid. If problem persists sometimes replacing the transmision screen may enable the reverse usually and new trani is needed.

I am "Master Technician" and This is my area of expertise.I perform engine computer diagnostics and all other imaginable electronic problems.15 years of experience,5 years of technical school.Those are my credentials so you know, who you get advice from.Now going back to your car problem.First, check engine and trany fault codes if there are any, write them down and transfer it to me. If there is nothing, then we got intermittent problem which is a B..CH. 1->{try to check "ECM"(engine control module) for water damage,common problem}. 2->{check ignition module,ignition coil for voltage and resistance,could be too low or too high.}. 3->{check crankshaft sensor resistance}. 4->(check fuel pressure}. 5->{check catalytic converter for exhaust flow,if it isn't clogged.}. 6->{check with scanner engine's and trany's "data stream" for any parameters out of spec.}. Last but not least 7->{check your trany's clutch for wear,trany fluid condition & level.}
I can't tell you exactly what's the problem without road test your car and feeling car behavior while stalling. My best bet is (crankshaft sensor) or (trany & clutch).Write me back what you'll find, So I can give you more pro advice. Sincerely JAYREE.
