Chevy malibu 2001 - Would like lights to go back to -auto-

Hi,
Someone recently used my car.
They didn't break my lights or anything, but they turned them on themselves. Which is fine.
I just like mine to go on and off on their on, which means as soon as i turn on the ignition if it is night time or raining they pop on on their own.
I turn it to auto and it doesn't come on, i have to manually turn them on.
I am so use to having them on auto i constantly forget to turn them off and on, please help.
2001 Chevrolet Malibu no problems turning lights on and off, just would like auto to be turned back on somehow,

    thank you =]
that would explain it, as my uncle did do an oil change that day and also replaced my temp sensor, good chance he bumped something. Where bouts is the fuse panel under the hood, anywhere i could get to myself, and if so, what would i have to look for?

I think you need a new sensor;or try disconnecting battery for a minute tthat may clear the computer, you can bring your car to those discount places and they will scan it for free and tell what you need replacing

OK, I would start by checking the fuses, this could explain the scenerio. You have two fuse panels, one under the hood and one on the drivers side near the door henge. If this is not the fix then you must disasemble the blinker auto handle and check the wiring.

1999 Chevy Malibu driver side tail light won't come on.

I would say that the tail lamp isn't plugged in but- if it is follow the wiring from the tail lamp forward there must be a break in the wiring -maybe someone cut the wires to patch in towing lights - cheers Denny

Have your Check Engine Light scanned at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts for free. For the Blower Switch, you either have a bad switch or motor/resistor.

01 chevy malibu won't start, security light blinks but after leaving the switch in the on position for ten minutes it will start is there a permanent solution to this?

I have the same problem on my 2001 malibu. Do a google search for 2001 Malibu Passlock malfunction. You have to have the passlock system replaced, although I've seen many forums where people have had it replaced only to have it malfunction again because Chevy never made a new passlock that does not malfunction for older Malibus. Also, if you get a remote car starter I've heard this will disable the passlock therefore removing the issue of it malfunctioning so you would not have to worry about it not starting.

I have a 2001 chevy malibu, not that i can solve your problem, but i did experience your same problem (scraping noise).
I did need a caliper, but. at that time i also had to replace my rotors and break pads.
Everything was related, wheel baring was bad, making everything else go bad. rotors, caliper, pads etc.
After replacing my rotors 2 times, and my break pads, and caliper once. It still wasn't fixed.
Be sure to check EVERYTHING. The sound will go away, depending on what you replace. but thats tricky, because the noise will go away, but if you don't fix the real problem, it will just come back again.
i finally got the wheel barings fixed, havent had a problem since.
