Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent

Open Question

Tail lights on ALL the time.

I have an '02 Accent - and I have been having problems with my exterior lights. I noticed that when my DRL are on - my tail lights are on and sometimes, when I turn my head-lights on, the tail lights turn off.

I was having a problem with my instrustment cluster and the diode was replaced today - and was told that my tail light problem of not working sometime will be fixed. However, it confuses me that that the tail lights are still on, even when my head lights aren't. I questioned that, and a few of the mechanics looked at each other and couldn't seem to remember if this occured in '02 accents or not. They mentioned there was none on the lot, for them to check.

Other people have told me that - when my DRL are on, it should just be my front lights - and not the back ones.

Could some one please clarify this for me ? I realize it's not a big deal if my tail lights are on, all the time - but if there is still a problem, it concerns me - because that would mean, they could turn off as well - as they have done in the past.

Thanks

I have the same problem. the dealer told me that the older models have the front and rear lights come on when the vehicle is running. I was also told th at the newer models have only the headlight/running lights on. The problem I have is that when I turn on the headlights after dark the dash lights and taillights go out, lately the signals have stopped working too.they seem to work when they want, any ideas on how to fix the problem would very helpfull

Why causes my park lights to remain on?

This could be caused by a number of things. Does the car have security.? Do the lights go out after a period of time? Some vehicles have a Sensor to turn the lights on and off. Some vehicles are equipped with daytime running lights. I do not think the latter is the problem. It could just be a problem with the light switch. Please comment and let us know if the lights stay or go off after a period of time

Without testing i would say you have DRL control module problem , But that would just be a guess .
In the night mode, the DRL ambient light sensor senses darkness. Then, the DRL module turns off the front turn lamps and turns on the headlamps through circuit 10. The DRL module also turns on the park, side marker, license, and tail lamps. If the engine should stall with the DRL control module in the night mode, the DRL control module will turn off the headlamps and leave the side marker, park, license and tail lamps on while the engine is being cranked. The headlamp switch operates as usual.
The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module is designed to automatically operate exterior lights depending on outside light conditions. The DRL control module operates in two modes, the day mode and the night mode. In the day mode, the DRL ambient light sensor senses daylight. Then, the DRL control module turns on the front turn lamps (non-flashing) if under the following conditions:
• The ignition switch is on.
• The headlamps switch is in the OFF position.
• The park brake is released.

The brightness of the Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) displays is controlled by two signals: the park lamps on signal (circuit 230) and the VF dimming signal (circuit 308). With the park lamps on, the VF display of the radio, heater, A/C control (with RPO CJ2) and the instrument cluster will dim for nighttime viewing. When the park lamps on signal is not present (park lamps off), the VF displays are at high brightness for daytime viewing. When the park lamps are on, the I/P lamp dimmer switch provides a signal (VF Dimming Signal circuit 308) which controls the brightness of the VF displays when the I/P lamp dimmer switch is adjusted.

Do the Daytime running light's work ?

How to read an electrical diagram Lesson 1

The day time running lights module , ambient light sensor , would be a good guess but that's all it would be .Do you know what these are ? Really don't think there is a short in the multifunction switch . Maybe it's time to take to a qualified repair shop , dealer ! Cadillac or Buick .

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module is designed to automatically operate the exterior lights depending on the outside light conditions.
The DRL control module operates in 2 modes:
• The day mode
In the day mode, the DRL control module turns ON the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity when the DRL ambient light sensor detects daylight under the following conditions:
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- The headlamps are OFF.
- The park brake is OFF.
• The low light mode
In the low light mode, the DRL ambient light sensor detects darkness, turning ON the low beam headlamps to full intensity through CKT 10.
Additionally, the DRL ambient light sensor turns ON the following lamps through CKT 9:
- The park lamps
- The side marker lamps
- The license lamps
- The tail lamps

2005 accent tail lights wont shut off

Pull that fuse or pull tail lamp relay, that should kill the lamps till you figure out the problem? You also have left an right tail lamp fuses, underhood fuse box. I don't know if tail lamp relay is faulty? Another concern, see the bottom wire on left of tail lamp relay, that is a ground controlled by the headlamp/multifunction switch, there could be a problem with that wire circuit or the multifunction switch. At the moment, I'm hoping just faulty relay.

it has command start ???? Is this some kind of aftermarket add on ? This shouldn't have anything to do with the running lamps . unless someone hooked something up in correctly . MOST VEHICLES HAVE A CIRCUIT BREAKER BUILT IN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. OVER TIME THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WILL GET WEAK & IT WILL TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON & OFF. YOU PROBABLY NEED A NEW SWITCH & THE FUSE BLOWING IN THE TAIL LIGHT CIRCUIT MAY BE A SEPARATE ISSUE.

Dash light do not come on but lights do for drl on 2005 chev equinox

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) will come on any time you start your car.
The dash lights do not come on, unless your headlights turn on. Either by a daylight sensor or if you manually turn them on by the switch.
So even though your headlights are on with the DRL, if you notice the tail lights do not come on (just like the dash lights don't).

To test if your dash lights do work, turn your headlight switch on. You should the the tail lights and dash lights come on.
