Why does my 1991 Ford Laser GL keep stalling?

possibly the vacuum hose from the top of the rocker cover or near that exhausts the fumes from the oil to the carbie is disconnected or block...or if it is automatic it could be that the transmission needs new filter and gasket kit bout AUD$20 and clean new transmission fluid AUD$40.. just drop the pan one side at time. catch the old fluid. when its empty remove the entire pan with care. then clean the pan and remove old filter. then insert new filter and o-ring. then line up new gasket on pan and bolt back in to specific tension. pour new fluid in to specification.warm engine in park to runing temp then check fluid level... this is all to remove the possibilty that it is the transmission and not the engine AUD$60 and 2 hours of your time..

1991 chevy c1500 stalling

Usually a problem with a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve. The computer controls idle speed by regulating how much air enters the intake thru the valve.

1991 Buick Ragal Custom 3.1 starts, then stalls immediately.

You need the exhaust converter so the O2 sensor can
work properly

It sounds as though the converter is blocked,as well
as the fuel trim, if that is correct term for an OBD1 System,
is not able to report back the oxygen in the failed converter

So the ecm can not provide the correct fuel mixture by
pulsing the injectors

I would also expect the timing chain to have a lot of slop
& possibly be off a couple teeth, from worm plastic gear
on cam

Trouble restarting / 1997 ford contour first

If I'm understanding the symptom correctly its probably the torque converter clutch solenoid.(TCC) If your handy get the repair manual and check out the section for torque converter clutch solenoid.(TCC)
This solenoid locks the engine to the transmission.
Its disconnected by the brake light switch.
It will only engage if your vehicle is at opertaing temperatures, cooling fan has cycled twice and traveled above approx 40 mph's.
If the brake light switch is defective it woun't tell the TCC to let go and your car will stall out but will restart again and you will be able to drive. But if its the TCC it self you will be able to start but you will stall out the minute you put it in gear. She will not disengage the converter unless engine is NOT at operating temperatures.(ENG COOLED DOWN)
You can buy repair manual and check it out yourself.
If you test drive it remember the only thing you can control is the speed of the vehicle. Keep it under 40mph's . The TCC needs all three criterias before it engages.
If this is your problem the TCC cost about $75 bucks.
Its located at the rear of the transaxle four or five bolts to remove the transaxle plate a little fluid will fall out . (nothing to scare over) Take a picture of how the TCC is routed with your cell phone unplug it and take it out. Route the new one as per your pic, plug it in, put a new gasket on the plate and bolt it back.
Check fluid level and test drive . Then recheck fluid level. good luck
If you give to a shop it will cost anywhere from $150 to $250.
