Water pump replacement

I need to replace a water pump for a Pontiac Grand Am 3300. Is it located at the bottom of the engine and if so can I replace it without taking out alot of parts (engine mount, header exhaust, )?

When I did the water pump on my 1992 3300, I had to jack up the car put it on jack stands and then use the jack to support the motor, undo the motor mounts and lower it just enough to access the pump so I could remove and replace it. I also needed assistance when I put it back up to hold a strap around the motor and pull in various directions to get it back into the correct position to reconnect the mounts correctly. has been working perfectly for over a year since replacing it.

t is also best to replace the serpentine belt at tis time as the motor mounts are already disconnected and this is neccasarry to do so on this model

The water pump should be located front right of motor the only thing that may take some time is if the belt needs to be replaced some models require you remove part of the engine mount. Job should take a pump / belt if damaged / antifreeze.

1991 pontiac grand prix le 3.1l overheating

I had an older vehicle that overheated. I flushed out the radiator twice, but it was so clogged up, I had to replace it, so check the radiator. If you inspect the radiator from the filler neck, you can see if there is crud build-up on the tubes. The problem could be the water pump. Typically when water pumps fail, they start to leak from the weep hole(s) on top and /or bottom. Is there any leak from the pump? If there is, that is indication that the pump need to be replaced. Hope this helps !

Need to locate and replace thermostat for 97 pontiac grand am se with a 2.4L engine.

The thermostat is under the car on the backside of the engine. there will be a metal pipe attached to the lower radiator hose. Follow that pipe to the back of the car. It is bolted to the water pump housing. The thermostat is in between the water pump housing and the metal pipe.

Water pump location

2.2 liter the water pump is driven by the timing chain. You will need a special tool to lock/hold the the water pump sprocket in place while the pump is being replaced. If you don't have the tool than do not try to replace the pump on this engine.

3.4 liter the water pump is located on the upper right of the engine as you are looking at it standing on the passenger side of the car. the lower hose goes into the backside of it.

Bad leak, dont know if its water pump or thermostat

sounds like your water pump gasket has a hairline crack in it and as engine warms it expands and leaks more

this is a very big job, I have the same car, it is located at the bottom rear of the engine, you need to remove the timing chain housing, timing chain turns the water pump, and also remove the exhaust manifold, takes no less than 6 hours in a shop on a lift
