I have a bmw 318 1992 how can i disconnect the alarm
Never realized the car had an alarm until i had the timing belt replaced. and now alarm goes off as soon as put key in ignition.. i have no fob key was not given it when purchased car..wondered if there was way to disconnect it somehow...BMW want mega bucks...thanks Sandie,

why not ask them to disconnect the lock actuator and leave the door panel off(to check alarm)if it does not go off, then you have not wasted you money,if it does, you can give the service manager some heavy grief...... but smile when you swear at him.
disable the hood microswitch. just unplug it. That and the cabin sensor are the most probably reasons the alarm will go off.
Alarms are useless. Totally effin useless. So it goes off.....then whaddya going to do. Shoot someone? Call the police? or listen to it drain the battery over and over again.
But....you can't disable the alarm totally. The bmw engineers have tied it into the main computer. you can however disable the sensors one by one so it doesn't set off the alarm. Hood sensor....Hood sensor....that's the culprit.
