The clip(s) have come off and the window is off track on the drivers side of my 1995 Buick Century. The window is about halfway down

Remove door panel by prying away gently also searching for the screws that will be at the door pull, or handle area. they may have a cover that just snaps away, exposing them. remove screws and with panel removed examine the mechanism that operates motor or hand crank. It it possible to manually turn the mechanism and get window up and if you are really handy you will be able to repair/fix unit. Motors are available on ebay, dealers, and local auto salvage yards.

Based on the age of the car I'd say the window motors are shot, you can probably find replacements at an auto parts store or junk yard? But with junk yard motors you could have the same problem next week. They are not difficult to replace, you just have to pull off the door panel on the inside and the new one should bolt right into place of the old one. You may have to drill out the old rivets, but the new one should have bolts to replace. You'll probably have to spend about $100 per side, but that's a lot better then $400-500 a repair shop will charge.

sounds like you may have broken wire in the wiring harness from the left side of the dash to the left driver front door.

2003 Buick Century - window problem

I've had a similar problem with my 2003 Buick Century. In my case, the driver's side front window one day went up and would not come down. I knew that the switch was malfunctioning by sticking in the up position since the window continued up despite the fact that Iet off the switch when the window was half way up and it continued going up. I had to pull over and pull the master switch assembly from the door panel and unplug it to prevent the window motor from being damaged by the constant power feeding it after the window was up. Basically, it would have burned the motor out. I cleaned the switch and it now works fine most of the time. I still need to replace the assembly. Not sure this is the reason in your case. I would check the back window and see if it goes down with the switch on the back door panel. If it does, then you are having problem with the master switch assembly on your front door panel. Moisture from rain from the window being down during rain or dirt may have corroded the switches' contacts.
