If you have a car with a memory chip sometimes the memory erases. do you have a dummy key use it if it turns on for a couple of secounds and then it turns of then your main keys need to be reprogramed hope this helps.

My 2004 ford explorer sport trac won't turn over and on the display it show bunch of dashes and says check gauges when i turn on the key

sounds like a dead battery , try a jump start ,if it starts have the alternator charge rate checked as if low may have been the cause of the battery going flat, then recharge the battery with a drive of about 20 miles

Won't start

Check the battery cables make sure they are clean and tight. Make sure the battery has at least 12V, new batteries sit on the shelf for months sometimes before they are purchased. If this yields no results, remove the starter and have it checked. If it checks bad, replace the starter.

Anti-theft

The key you have has a computer chip in it. If the car is broken in to and the thief tries to steal you car by jumping wilre. The car will not start. You need that key or one that is programmed for your car. I suggest that you do not lose this key as they are pretty expensive to replace. Around 140.00. I hope this helps. Don't forhet to rate my answer.
