No idea here no experiance but try asking at the dealers as it could be something simple like a oxygen sensor failure as these older cars are not electronicly loaded

Automotive problem. 1991 Subaru Legacy C

Lubricant may not resolve it sounds like it could be your water pump froze up. Look to see if it is turning. Even if it turns it still could be bad.Usally the first sign of it going bad. Stop by your local auto parts store to see if they agree.

1991 subaru legacy, the engine cranks over but will not start

Is the check engine light on? If so, rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs. If no spark or fuel, suspect either the camshaft or crankshaft sensor to be defective (should show up on the above scan).

Legacy lacking power and using lots of fuel

Are you sure its the transmission ecu that is the problem ?
Are you getting any engine ecu error codes ?
Sounds to me like its going into limp home mode.....
Crankshaft sensor ?
Camshaft sensor ?
Engine ecu ?
Thats where I would be looking ........
Looking forward to your reply.

Fuel gauge/temp gauge not working

There are two sensors, one for ECU temp. readings with two pin connector and other one with only one wire, which has been probably disconnected when you replaced the CPC solenoid - very close position.

I cant find my ecu on 1991 rs liberty-legacy

ECU is in the front passenger footwell, high on the right. Its clear that you have no manuals, but you'll need one if you want to do more than stare at it. Unless you install a battery with the polarity reversed, which does destroy the ECU, its is not likely to be the problem on these cars. If its "dead", and the battery is good, the lights come one, the strater turns the motor over, but no fuel no spark then check the fuses in the box on the upper left of the driver's footwell and the ones in the box in the engine compartment in front of the left front wheel. If it isn't totally dead, get the Hayes manual at the local ato parts store and read how to get the ECU codes w/o a tool and go from there.
