Surge at idle. Injector Air Assist code

This is a friends car, he's a starving student so he came to me for help. I'm a Honda tech so I'm not familliar with Nissans. The engine will surge slightly at idle 700-1000 RPM. I suspected a vacuum leak. The tach jumps like its missing badly but there is no misfire that I noticed. I checked for codes and found Injector Air Assist Problem. I couldn't locate a solenoid to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There should be an idle adjustment possibly on the throttle assembly. try to find it. You could also try a Honda dealer and ask a service tech. They are usually helpful over the phone.

Why does my 1997 honda civic surge at idle

Idle air control. Its what meters the air at idle. They just get worn out and can't find where they want to be for the specific rpm the computer is looking for. Replace it.

Just changed map sensor fuel filter idle control valve and when you press the gas it hesitates like its bn starved think its a bad injector all the vac lines are connected checked relays still having probs...

check the fuel pressure and volume with a gage and check to specs.it could be a bad tps sensor.if it was a bad injector it would run rough and not feel like its starving for gas.it could be that all the injectors are dirty and need to be cleaned or if too dirty replaced.

only thing i suggest as you have narrowed it down... is to call or drop into a nissan dealer... the mechanics there should be able to tell you.... heck the parts guy can show you one and then you'll know what to look for... my parts guy at ford gives me print outs that are detailed and show part locations...

Honda accord trouble shoot

Could also be a dirty or clogged idle air control valve - try a Seafoam treatment (it's available at the auto parts stores - use about half a coffee cup worth through a vacuum line into the manifold, per the directions on the can). Easy treatment and it can work wonders for the way your car runs.
