Re: towing with my 2001,S-10,2.2
U can use a reese freme mounted hitch with spring mounted load levelers DO NOT use the bumper too heavy, rip it off .but the down side is the repairs u will make th the brakes, clutch & trans aren't worth it, very expensive a smallet trailer or a bigger truck is what u need

need more information to assist you didnt specify the vehicle being towed their are 100s of caravans --also need to take into account the tow vehicle itselt as to what its tow capability is --if your by a trailer rental stop in or call they can answer your specific question most have a chart with the specifics for setting up vehicles to be towed
Most likely the brown wire from the trailer connector is connected to a constant battery voltage source, and it should be connected to the vehicle running light circuit, however someone might have wired the trailer connector up that way on purpose so that the trailer does not draw power from the vehicle running lights and possibly damage the vehicle running light circuit. (Dodge/Chrysler vehicles do have delicate lighting systems) Here are some images to help assist you, and the 4 way connector is the same as the 5 way connector just without the blue wire for the trailer brakes.
Um...no...in order to tow you need rated tow-cable or shock absorbing chains or a tow hitch. you would also need hazard lights that also show which way the towed vehicle is turning (ppl cant see the towing car's turn signals) usually there are magetics ones that hook up to the towing cars trailer light system. Safe towing by LAW is the issue here...could you tow it with a dolly...yes...but is it against the law..YES and the LAW protects you from hurting yourself, others, and property. I hope this answers your question. and please be safe. (dont do it) 8-)
