Did you try the fuse panel under the hood. I have a 1994 Explorer with over 100,000 miles and it would do the same when I was driving it would sometimes just shut off. Check the EEC (Electronic Emission Control) Fuse (30 AMP) under the hood and see if it's blown, I replaced mine with a 40 AMP fuse and it worked.

I have a 94 ford explorer that does the same thing going down the road and shuts down sometimes after running for a while fuel pump wont even kick on so my suggestion is the fuse box under the hood find your relay for your fuel pump it is from windshield side the row towards the motor side of engine 2 one back just move it till it clicks and no its not your fuel pump nor relay the problem is a short or bad connection on the wiring harness under the fuse box that is a manufature product too by the way and can only be replaced by ford and ordered if your vehicle starts and you hear the fuel pump kick on under the hood thats your problem check that and get back to me k

1994 ford explorer

The first thing you need to fix is the fact that it will not go into park. I think the shift lever is maladjusted. There should be a way to adjust it near the transmission. Get this dealt with because I am thinking it could be a simple problem. If after you get it adjusted, it still does not immediately kick in to drive, then I think you have a serious tranny problem. You did not say how many miles were on the car, but if it has high miles (more than 100,000) and it has not ever been rebuilt, then it will probably need to be. The trannys in these Explorers were notoriously bad.

My explorer 2004

alot of things could be at fault here since the motor blew up the only thing i could say is dealer if your origional owner
or try to get it under the hundred thousand mile waranty
you will probably have to buy new engine if dealer dont replace
the dealer if you are origional owner or certified preowned they have to replace the engine under waranty of mechanical defects
there isnt very much anything can be said to this as the engine in discussion has blown up
