Did you try the fuse panel under the hood. I have a 1994 Explorer with over 100,000 miles and it would do the same when I was driving it would sometimes just shut off. Check the EEC (Electronic Emission Control) Fuse (30 AMP) under the hood and see if it's blown, I replaced mine with a 40 AMP fuse and it worked.

I have a 94 ford explorer that does the same thing going down the road and shuts down sometimes after running for a while fuel pump wont even kick on so my suggestion is the fuse box under the hood find your relay for your fuel pump it is from windshield side the row towards the motor side of engine 2 one back just move it till it clicks and no its not your fuel pump nor relay the problem is a short or bad connection on the wiring harness under the fuse box that is a manufature product too by the way and can only be replaced by ford and ordered if your vehicle starts and you hear the fuel pump kick on under the hood thats your problem check that and get back to me k
