I have a gas light on , 2001 mustang v-6 no engine light on cause i fix most of them , like egr, evap leak. new gas cap not originol cap is a aftermarker cap. ?

It has to do with ya sending unit. There is a break in the wire in the fuel tank makeing it stay on. Or there could be a short in the wire that feeds the unit. The light will come on when it goes to ground. That is what makes the light come on.

My check gas cap light and check engine light is on

CHECK GAS CAP COULD BE LOOSE OR MISSING OR LEAKING CAUSING EVAP LEAK IN WHICH WILL CAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASH ON..

Replaced the gas cap and light stays on

Why did you not give us the EVAP Codes?

You have other Evap Leaks, gross, I suspect, if you
used the codes you got & changed a gas cap

I think you will need a repair shop, you won't have
an EVAP Smoke Machine or know what one is,or
a scan tool to work on that system

My check engine light came on code P0446; dashboard says "check gas cap" i took it off retightened it and check engine light still on. I noticed that the metal flap for the gas nozzle is...

The metal flap should not trigger the sensor. Once you tighten the gas cap you should clear the code and see if it comes back. Otherwise it will take a while to go away.
If it does come back even though the gas cap is tight it could be the rubber seal around the gas cap replacing that can sometimes fix this issue also.

How to shut off gascap light chrsler aspen check engine light goes off but because gascap light stays on check engine light returns. So how can i clear gascap light

You may have a faulty gas cap. If you are tightening the cap down securely the light will go off after the car is driven about 40 miles. I suggest installing a new gas cap which should cost about $15 at your local auto parts store. *** Please rate me on this answer.***

1998 Cheverolet Lumina, ''service engine soon'' and hard gear shift

I doubt the two problems are connected. I would try a new gas cap and see what happens since it runs fine. The service engine soon light won't reset on it's own right away.

I have a 2000 Alero Oldsmobile, engine light is staying on it is a error code p0442, I replaced the gas cap and the canister, and the light is still coming on. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

There may be and EVAP solenoid that is leaking. THe OLDS Aurora has this and it is a common failure with this code. Also, the evap lines run to the fuel pump on the top of the gas tank. Some cars have an access panel in the trunk under the carpeting, near the back seat on the right hand side.

Oil light fickers or stays solid when braking

I had the same problem on a 2002 Stratus. I also had a Diagnostics Code of P0455(EVAP leak). I replaced the gas cap and this fixed the problem. I don't know what EVAP leak had to do with the oil pressure light coming on, but the new gas cap fixed it.

Check engine light/gas cap will not stay tight.

Yes, the gas cap will cause the Check Engine Light to come on. Will set code P0441 if I remember correctly. It should be okay to drive it. If you would like to confirm the code, take the truck to an auto parts store like Autozone and have them hook up their scan tool and read the code. If its P0441 it will probably be something like EVAP or Evaporative system leak.

Its an easy enough fix while your there too, just pick up a new gas cap or you could pick up an OEM one from the dealership.

I found that the hoses for the Evap. system near the gas tank had split on the ends and was causing a leak.
