Easy job if you have a floor jack, 2 floor stands and wrench.
Empty the gas tank, place jack centered on the gas tank jack up the car, put the floor stands in place to hold the car steady, disconnect the wiring go to the gas tank then remove the bolts (most cars only have 2 holding the tank braces, slowly lower the floor jack with the tank on it, remove the fuel pump slowly and carefully as not to have anything fall in the tank. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=remove+gas+tank
fuel pump is in the tank try to get most of gas out of tank then you need to unclip pressure line and return line and vent line unplug electric connector and remove tank there usually are no pictures for this if you need pictures you should hire it out
Open up the rear doors and reach in between the seam between the top of the back seat and the bottom. Unbolt the lower seat cushion from the chassis using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the bottom cushion away from the chassis and set it outside the vehicle.
2Open the gas door and remove the gas cap. Unbolt the silver fuel pump cover from the chassis using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Unplug the electrical connection to the fuel pump with your hands. Put the key in the ignition and attempt to start the car. If it starts, allow it to run until the engine dies. Then remove the key from the ignition.
Disconnect the fuel line connections to the fuel pump, using a pair of pliers. Then pull the fuel pump and bracket assembly out of the gas tank. Pull the stock seal off the gas tank with your hands. Set a replacement seal onto the tank, then install the replacement fuel pump in the tank. Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel pump, using the pliers.
4Connect the electrical connection to the fuel pump, using your hands. Then bolt the silver cover to the chassis with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reinstall the rear seat cushion, using the ratchet
Then the fuel pump has failed most likely. It is electric of course and located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed in most cases to replace the fuel pump, and don't forget to replace the fuel filter
George, No simple diagram for changing the fuel pump. It is located inside the gas tank. The gas tank needs to be removed to change the pump. The pump is part of an assembly which consists of the pump, fuel gauge sender and pick up. You also need to change the fuel filter when you change the pump. It should take a professional mechanic about 3 hours to drain the fuel out of the tank, remove the tank, change the pump and fuel filter. Multiple the mechanic's time by whatever the repair shop charges per hour for labor. There are several different pump assemblies for the vehicle. Price depends on whether it's 2 or 4 doors and 2 or 4 wheel drive. Best guess is about $600 total.
in-tank fuel pump. remove gas tank and remove the fuel pump and screen from it and either clean the pump and screen(or in-tank filter) or replace it with a new one. Its a lot easier if you empty the tank first.
The pump is inside the gas tank. You have to drop the tank, disconnect the fuel likes and electrical connector and then spin the metal ring on the top of the tank to release the pump. Once you have the old one out assembly is the reverse of the removal procedure.
HI. This assembly is modular and it is located inside the fuel tank. It will be required to lower the fuel tank in order to access the modular pump assembly. Here is a diagram that will help you understand the modular assembly.
Give me your email and I'll email it to you what exactly are you doing to the truck anyway? But the Grey wire is the one ffrom the fuel pump relay that supplies voltage to the fuel pump for 2 seconds only after you turn the key on and all the time you are cranking.
