The SBEC is the computer for the engine.
I would check the auto shutdown relay and ignition module first. You need to know if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors to know how to proceed.

SOURCE: Car stalls and hard to start

They won't reset the fault code, so back at the house disconnect battery for 10 minutes and it will clear the code. Then if the fault reappears and you get a similar fault code reading you'll have better info. Be forewarned the fault code is the symptom not the solution. I.E. if the mass flow sensor is bad you can get a lean bank or vacuum leak type of fault code.

SOURCE: Jeep Unlimited starts but then stalls immediately

The accelerator is the gas pedal...how are you cranking the gas pedal in park? and, if it only stays running when you are doing this how are you "ready to go"? Was the battery tested? if the engine turns over (cranks) when you turn the key, likely there is nothing wrong with it. If you can drive it after doing whatever you do to get it running, it's doubtful that the ignition switch is bad. If it runs well after you get it started, it has nothing to do with spark plugs.
Fuel pump may be draining back and loosing pressure but you need to have pressure tests done to verify that. If you cannot crank the engine in neutral, I'd check the neutral safety switch....it should start in either park or neutral. The pump and switch are about $200 apiece...good idea to test them before spending money not to fix the problem!!!
Hope I got this right...your post is a bit confusing.

2008 Jeep Liberty Starter Issue

cant figure out your post at all !
"When my car will not start it only growls & never roars/never turns over."
it either cranks robustly nor not
then and only the can it start, run
cranks
starts
runs
or maybe stalls
the dealer can fix it , if you demo it and it works.
its not broken then.
if it cranks correctly every time ,say so
that is a failed engine start.
if engine stalls, say so.
if rpm on the engine is real low, too low, say so.

the word turns over means nothing, Im sorry
1/2 say, it means cranking
other 1/2 means its running,
the order is
cranks, starts, runs , and keeps running or stalls.
btw if it stalls, its needs a tuneup'
get one in last decade, (sparks filters)
my guess growls is starter sounds
so if it starter works try cranking with throttle wide open
this is super secret unflood mod. it cuts fuel and clears flooding.
Good engines that fail to start are
bad spark plugs
flooding
starving for fuel.
we discount them 1 by one until. bingo

Once started, kept stalling, replaced Cylinoid Resistor. Did not solve problem

Had the same problem on 91 metro. Would idle & when stepping on gas, would die. Sometimes, Icould drive it but still died. Found out the ngine was flooding. Maual said check ignition, replaced cap & roter to no user. Thought maybe the throttle body wa ssomehow the problem. Had another body but that was not the problem. Manual said check for kinked return line. Not the problem. Had the return line off the throttle bodt and blew into it. Had a blockage. Blew into it until blockage disloged.

Success! Took me a week of troubleshooting but I solved my problem Car runs great now,. Now I have to figure out how to clean the gas tank out.

Mazda Tribute v6 2002 5-8 seconds to start

sounds like a problem with the ignitionkey comuting with body control module verifying that it is the right key for the car. if you have another key and see if it does the same. reprogramming of keys may help. Prados have been known to have a similar prob.

1988 Ford Crown Victoria 5.0L Stalling

Have you run the codes? I'd be checking the MAP sensor, usually on the firewall and check the vacuum line going to it. Matter of fact, check ALL vacuum lines as they got really brittle at connectors and a break is hard to find. I used to own a nice 88 Marquis.Great cars! don-ohio (:^)

My 96 jeep Laredo will not turn over. I've checked

sorry turns over means ZERO
the crank shaft can spin or not
the starter can in fact spin and crankshaft not.
and some think turns over means, engine runs. now that fact makes turns over, a dead statement.

the word is cranks over, the engine cranks over robustlyl
and then the engine runs.
then runs for more that 3 seconds, and the ASD relay holds. (step by step his works like this ,93 to now)

wont crank ? (clear statement in fact)
cranks ok, (crank shaft spins fast) can be seen and heard.
runs for 3 seconds? and stalls (ASD relay drop out) can be seen.
runs for 5min and stalls. (complex)
runs for hours and stalls. (even more complex)
all are key facts to the solution.

tell more..... tell all it does good bad or ugly
for better suggestions!

I have a 1998 chevy cavalier LS and my car will crank but it shuts off after about a second. i've heard that its the theft system shuttin it off. is there a way to do it without going to the deale

If the theft was the culprit, the security light would be flashing and the car would not start at all. I would check fuel pressure first, might want that ecm to be flashed for the car that it is in.

88F250 4x4 5.8L FI 5 speed. A friend has this & the starter went out. I replaced it & the solenoid. No big deal right? I returned it & the next day he called me & told me that the...

Its a solenoid...it engages the bendix and truck starts...bendix should retract because power to it gets shut off by ignition switch going to "run".

Only way bendix would stay engaged or get a signal to keep turning ???
Bad contacts in ignition switch...maybe ??
Start relay in under hood power distribution panel has hot or welded contacts ?

I've gotta think about this one...hope this gives some help...
