Question about 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

2006 Chev Malibu Maxx

Hi. My name is Jaymi Shogren. I was on my way to work this morning when I realized that the temp gage read C - and noticed that the needle did not move at all from C. I warmed up my car this morning before leaving for work. I had my car plugged over night and unplugged my car before I started the ignition, so I don't understand why the temp gage would still read at C. I used the defrost do keep my windows from frosting and it was blowing hot air. Does this mean that the thermostat is stuck open?

Great design!!!! There is a plug on the right side of the unit.(like the ones on a stickshift trans) you need to remove it on level ground and fill through the hole you mentioned. It's full when fluid begins to run out of the hole on the side.

SOURCE: fuel gage isn;t working on malibu 97

I had this same problem after ignition work. An electrical burst caused the needle to shoot past the full indicatorand fall to the bottom I could see that the needle was trying to display properly, but the pin was stopping it from doing so. using a bent paper clip and the ignition to on I was able feed the clip past the odometer reset button and pull the needle over the pin. Backyard, but it works fine and didn't require pulling the whole instrument assembly off the vehicle!

Gas leak, engine light on

Gas or oil leak? Gas leak can turn the light on. Oil doesn't. Try to notice where the leak is under the car on the ground. Look under the car and see where the leak is on the frame. All this helps. Have the codes read.

My car temp dosnt go up idk if the thermostats stuck shut or not??if how do i unstick it?

if the temp gage doesn`t go up you could have a gage problem or even a coolant sensor problem that works the gage only and not the one that sends a signal to the pcm to turn on the cooling fans and monitor the engine temperature,if it is the thermostat then it will be stuck open and the only way to correct the problem is to replace the thermostat other wise it can stick open again or closed causing the engine to overheat.
