1998 Larado Jeep heater on/off problem

My heater works great when it want to.

If has a mind of it's own. The heater turn on and off. I have the heater switch on and at times, the hearter turns on and warms up my jeep, then there are times when the heater just turns off on it's own.

Please advise as to the possible problem?

Thanks,

Thank you for taking the time.

Once the heater goes out, no noise at all. No motor noise.

Than, at any given time, the blower will kick in again, on it's own.

I can leave the switch either on or off and the blower will kick in at any given time.

    Thanks again

When I leave the switch off, the blower will not kick in. Just wanted to clearify. When the switch is on, the blower will kick in at any given time, and also will stop blowing.

    Good morning Mikey108,

I went under the dash by the pass side and there is about a 2'' connector, I moved the connector and then the blower starts. I believe I need to check the connector and replace if needed.

    Would you agree?

    Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Sounds like the blower motor is bad. The motor has brushes in it that could be worn.
When the heat goes out, do you hear the motor running?

Try this, when the motor goes off, look under the dash on the pass.
side. Get like a screwdriver and hit the motor with the **** end and
see if the motor comeson. If the motor comes on, replace the motor.

    Tell me what happens.

You have hit the nail on the head. Check the connector I'll bet the plug has corroded or melted contacts.

pull the shifter back slowly out of park and see if it engauges before or after the reverse position this could just need an adjustment in the cable if not it's an 08 you probably still have a warranty on it i would take it to the dealer if no warranty ammco or any othyer transmission shop can run a few tests on it for a low fee
