I was changing stereos out and then i heard something pop, After i finished the install of the new stereo I noticed my dash lights were out as well as my fog lights. The fuse is good but I've come to the conclusion that its the relay. Problem is there's 4 of them and im not sure which one needs to be changed. Please help ASAP due to the fact we are loosing daylight more and more every day and i need to be able to watch my speed here in Alaska. Thanks
I'm just now seeing your question at 3pm est so I don't know when you first posted it.
Your car has several different wiring systems for the lights so you may have to get a book to figure it all out.
There is a fog light relay, but it has nothing to do with the rest of the lights, unless your car also has an isolation relay. The isolation relay grounds the fog lamp relay on some models.
There may also be an instrument cluster microprocessor if the car has automatic light controls or daytime running lights.
Its possible you popped something in the headlight switch too.
I would get a book with the diagrams and start at the fog lamp and dash light fuses then go from there. See if the fuses have voltage first.
Some of the diagrams can be found online, such as at autozone's website under repair help.
SOURCE: tail lights and dash lights not working
the relays are usually adjacent to the fuses or on rear of fuse panel relays are different coloured as to what they control and are small square boxes which have flat terminals on one side for plug into a preset circuit if you have h/book it will give the info you req or tel dealer spares dept and enquire cost//colour// location? this is a simple diy hope this helps you? ps you do not mention if license plate lights are working as these are on rear light s same circuit

You have a short.. Take out the radio you put in and make sure the wires are not crossed...

SOURCE: 97 gmc pickup, 5.7 eng, fuel pump not operating,
What you need to do is check you fuel pressure. Go to a local auto parts store and buy a fuel injection pressure tester. The pressure fitting is on the top of the motor its a 3/8 ish sized metal line and has a screw on fitting like a tire valve does. This line comes up from the back of the motor to the right of the distributor and goes down into the intake. Make sure to have a rag handy to catch the fuel seepage. After you connect the pressure tester turn the key on and off three times and read the gage you should have atleast 58 pounds of pressure. If you have 56 pounds it won't run because the fuel injectors are a poppit valve style and need atleast 58 pounds of pressure to operate.

Do not hook up the Dimmer wire from the aftermarket stereo! This can cause electrical issues such as a switch or worse to go out.
