Question about Chevrolet Malibu

2 Answers

I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu LS 6-cylinder and my heater blower stopped working. I checked the fuses and they are all good, I assume the motor for the blower is bad. I believe the blower is a 1997 - 2003 Chevrolet Malibu 4-Seasons A/C Blower Motor. Do you have any other ideas? Also, where is the heater blower motor located? Do you have instructions to put this unit in? Please advise. ts6947@wmconnect.com

Replace the blower motor resistor. Remove the shroud below glove box, 2 screws and a snap-pop fitting. Be careful of the courtesy light. Remove the blower moter and disconnect the purple/black power connector to it - - you'll need this extra room to work with. 2 more screws, same size, 6.5mm on mine, 7or 8mm on some others, that holds the blower motor resistor in place. This replacement part is less than 40 bones at most parts store. Unplug, replace, re-install, test and you're on your way with about 2 hours of slow paced effort in your own driveway. Typical cost at a garage - up to $400, what a sham.

The blower motor is located under the dash on the passengers side. I will assume the blower quit on ALL Speeds, not just speeds other than High.

Using a 12 Volt test light or DC Voltmeter (DVOM):

Check for power to the blower motor with the Key ON and Blower set to HIGH. Unplug the electrical connector for the hot wire and use a known good ground. If you have about 12 Volts with no electrical connector damage, the blower motor is bad.

Have your Check Engine Light scanned at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts for free. For the Blower Switch, you either have a bad switch or motor/resistor.

2006 chevy trailblazer heater blower motor not working

You might wanna check and make sure the heater switch didn't go bad. It could even be the blower motor itself.

Heat wont work 2001 lincoln town car cartia

Hello Callahan5922....this sounds like a stuck blower motor resistor. I assume the blower won't function in the a/c mode either? If you have a digital multimeter you can check this. I believe it's fuse #2....if the digital indicator goes up or down when you increase or decrease the fan speed thats good. Locate the blower motor resistor....you wil find it located on the fire wall behind the right valve cover hiding behind the heater hose, it's about the size of a cigarette pack. With the engine off, and key in on position, turn the A/C on High, and rap a tap tap tap on the resistor. You might be suprised when the blower motor takes off a runnin,
I hope this is the answer you need and i was able to help solve this for you. Good luck...

Heater fan not working in 05 Chevy Equinox

I suspect you also checked the fuses, some vehicles are double protected, especially since you usually have to remove the entire dash panel to get to the heater fan blower motor. It should be in the middle or under the glove box, should be located in a plastic box that has like a bell shape to where the motor is. check fuses then check wiring, and make absolutely certain the relay was the correct one that you changed, in a 3 year old vehicle the fan motor should not be bad yet.
