Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The window will not close and is fully inside the door. The power window mechanism seems to work, but the window does not come back up.
Time for a new regulator and cable assembly. The cable pulley in regulator has failed you. very common and no big deal, just look it up on ebay for that door and get a replacement. if i remember right, i paid 60 or 70 for mine, with new motor and cable, and installed in about an hour.
dont attempt to temporarily roll up window. they are heavy, and if the method you choose fails, it will come crashing down in door. you would be safer with plastic taped over window till part arrives, unless you can be sure your method cant fall. mine worked for a few days and luckily when the reworked cable broke it was already down.

Unfortuanately the window has come off the track... happens for various reasons... on my windstar the side rail spot weld broke so the rail/track came off... i had to take the bracket out ... drill out the spot weld and put it back together with a rivet ... put the window back and it's been good since.... basically you will need to take the door panel off to see why it came off the track.

The panel pops off. There are cheap tools to help with this at your local AutoZone. You may be able to just pull them off, you will need new clips which are just a couple of dollars or else your panels will be loose when you put them on. There maybe a screw or 2 that will be hiding and you will find them as your taking the panel off, start at the bottom. As for your original problem I would say the linkage is binding up some where and needs a bit of grease. Hope this helps. Richard

If your power window motor is not moving up or down at all inside the door panel, you will need a new motor.
If your window is stuck and will not move, it is the motor - it is bad.
If your window falls down into the door panel, the window is off track.
Replacing a window motor is an easy fix, get another one from an auto parts store and replace it.
