One of the ignition coils is faulty.Pull a wire off each coil one at atime and look for corrosion or put a scan tool on it and it will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. If all coils are good then check for a faulty injector or weak fuel pressure.

From the symptoms of the problem and the precautions you have done i think its time to check the EGR valve.Clean your EGR valve and then put it again. How handy you are in ding this?

As the check engine light is on did you scan for error code which will help you more specific to locate the problem.

1997 Buick Lesabre Limited Spark or Fuel Problem?

Multiple cylinder misfire means that more than one spark plug didn't fire, and that rules out a single spark plug fail.

You are more likely looking at an ignition module, or a coil.

Engine light began to flash on my ford fusion 2 54 plate only 38,000 miles also fluid was comin out of exhaust also engine was shaking. what could this be ?

If your engine light is flashing, then one of your cylinders is misfiring. Continuing to drive will cause severe damage.

You'll need to bring it to a shop for them to diagnose which cylinder is misfiring.

Electronic level control

I had this happen with my 2004 Buick Lesabre at 38,000 miles. The dealer fixed it for $68: it was a linkage bar in the rear that enabled the system to detect how high the rear was, that had become detached.
I have also read from another owner, that his sensor module for this system had become broken at around 80,000 miles, and that that wasn't too expensive either.
