Question about 1999 Cadillac Seville

1 Answer

Water inside car

I have a 1999 cadillac seville and we've been getting some rain storms in my area the past few days and when I get up the next mornign to go to work, the floor of the rear seats are filled with water which I think is from the rain, but I never left any windows open. My question is how did the water get inside the car, and what do I have to do to fix the problem. Thanks

I had a similar leak problem with a Bonneville. We had to dry the car out thouroughly , and went to a self car wash to direct water pressure at seams and gaskets to see where fluid entered vehicle. You might have to remove some interior parts....door panel...back seat....you need to verify how much gets wet....ie....just the floor?. Ours was a bad gasket/ seal on the firewall ....water was dripping on the ECM. took a whole day of waiting after washing....then drips would start on the vehicle interior.
Hope that helps ....Good Luck !

NO, it is most likely getting in through the cowl vent area under the wipers. Normally the water drains out the inner fender, but if its clogged with leaves and pine needles, it wont drain and will fill up past the cool air intake and get into the cabin. I would pull the cowl vent grille and make sure the drains are not clogged.

I have a 98 Seville SLS, do to the recent storm I got water in the car. Just light water that soaked the carpet. I immediately vaccumed the water up. After a day or so my drivers power set stopped working,...

remove rear seat cushion to be able to lift carpet for inspection. if its wet under carpet, the entire carpet will need to be removed for inspections and to dry out. many electrial connection are under carpet. i have dealt with these type of problems before in cadillacs. also check in spare tire well for water if carpet is wet.
to further help the concern you may need a techII scan tool and or wiring diagrams specificly for your vehicle. good luck!

1999 buick regal water leaking on the right side in the truck area? help

Bummer. Strip the trunk and completely blow dry everything. Completely dry the trunk. During the mopping up (get a good light so you can see..) see if you can tell where the water is running from.

So there are several areas that are common: Look at sunroof drain integrity. look at the taillights where they attach, there is less problems with this detail, these days; And look at the weather stripping. Some designs the water works its way into the seal and gets channeled to the inside.

By the way, this diagnostic step takes a week or so, with rain, etc. so put everything away inside somewhere...Keep the spare.

So, now you are dry, and have fixed or sealed areas that you suspect...The next step is to buy the blue paper towels from Home Depot. These towels show water easily...So. you tape these towels here and there along suspected water paths (path to bottom of the trunk.) Have rain, hose, etc.

Periodic inspections should start to eliminate most of the trunk....I have used tape as a water dam, with the paper towels ahead or behind the tape...Patience is what will direct you to narrow down what is happening. Mine, I was able to eliminate all of the trunk, and followed to find that the weather stripping was discharging water inside. Messy fix, total clean out of old sealer and install new design seal...and problem gone.

In almost all of my waterleaks, I NEVER found it actually leaking when watered with a hose...I used the blue paper towel method to narrow down where the water was entering... Sometimes I would go through several rain storms and driving events with no water entering....
Hope this helps you to get to the bottom of your issue. The answer is never silicone, you need butyl and weatherstrip stuff meant for your car. And as when new, no sealer goobered all around.

2000 seville sls trunk tire well full of water

These cars (Sevilles) have a problem with water in the trunk. It comes from clogged sunroof drains. There are 4 of them. One in each I-Pillar and one on each side that travel back toward the trunk. They can get clogged, and my mechanic tells me that this car has had issues with this.

99 cadillac seville continues to overheat even though i put a new water pump

maybe the water pump wasnt the problem to begin with. if the engine temperature only goes up when you stop the car then most likely it is the FANS that are not engaging to cool the radiator which is a problem with the fan sensor, computer that controls the fans, relay/fuse. I had the same problem on my 1999 cady STS coming back from my vacation. the engine temperature would be normal only when I drove the car above 70km/hr because the air passing through the front of the car would cool the radiator. when I slowed down the fans wouldnt start and no air was passing through to cool the rad, hence the engine temperature would start to go to HOT. good luck.

Coolant temperture sensor is the first thing to inspect.
With the engine off and cold.
Pull the connector and clean it.
Check is this the OE sensor. It will have on of the following number on it.
10045847; 12146312; 15321686; 15326386; 25036092; 25036708; 25036979; 25037182

Write any number down, You will help you to get the EXACT match in the auto part store.
The sensor is around $15.
If the contact cleaning does not help then just replace the coolant temperture sensor.
Use the water pump thread sealer to ensure proper seal.
After install the sensor, inspect for ANY coolant leak before put the vehicle back to service,
Please post more information or question on the comment window.
