Question about 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
How i disconnect this light? there's nothing wrong with the car runs great i need to repair or disconnect the light how?
You can easily remove the bulb by disconecting it from the back of the dash. However if the vehicle is running well it is more then likely a simple reset or sometimes even a pre programmed light to come on at a certain mileage.

DO NOT DISCONNECT THE warning light. The vehicle will not run correctly if it can not perform a self test, which includes checking the lamp. IF the light is on, have the codes pulled and reviewed from the on board computer. While you may not feel the fault, your vehicle is most likely consuming more fuel then necessary. at $2 or more a gallon it does not take a long time to make back your investment of fixing the vehicle

When the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light (Varies by make) is turned on the computer control unit (called the ECM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. You will need to get the systems Electronic control module tested for the faults codes it stores when the check engine light is turned on. This requires the use of a tool called a scanner, it is specific to your car make.
