Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
We have been having 20 degree weather, my boyfriend went to work and parked on an incline and when he started the car now it won't go into reverse. The car won't even move at all.. What could this be?Could it have anything to do with the weather?
Hi, I wanted to offer you another possible solution to your problem which I think could be weather related. I am not sure how old your car is, but I had a strange thing that was very similar to yours happen to my Olds, too. My Olds was a 5-speed, about 12 yrs. old and we had the same daytime temperatures with snow on the ground as well. The snow had made its way around the gears,(transmission), the axles, etc., and had frozen like a block of ice. My car would not move until it warmed up. Once the heat hit (32+) and the wind chill reached above -40, I was able to move my car (1st I jumped my battery). I have not gone through any deep snow since. I make sure that my undercarriage is well lubed & my tires have the same air pressure in them all yr. It might be worth it to see if it helps to warm up a little before spending too much $$$. Good Luck and I really hope that this helps!!! Been there, done that.

Try releasing the parking brake or ya be going nowhere. Might want to take to the shop and have the check the clutch or shaft, It maybe out of line, or it might be the fly wheel and the transmission.Transmission is the biggest part of the vechile movement I would have the shop and have them look at it.
