Question about 1998 Lincoln Town Car

Windshield wipers wont work

The motor is good and the switch is good as well as the fuse cant seem to find a relay anywhere and all the wiring seems to be in good shape tested for voltage at the motor but no matter what the switch is on i have one constant hot and one constant ground

If you are getting power at motor it is likley that motor is bad since the switch is control for the different voltage

Wiper/Washer System Components
The Wiper/Washer System consists of the following components:
• Windshield wiper/washer switch
• Body control module (BCM)
• Wiper PCB relay
• Wiper high PCB relay
• Windshield wiper motor
• Windshield washer fluid pump
• Windshield washer fluid level switch
• WPR fuse 25 A
• WSW fuse 10 A
This is more then likely not a fuse issue !!!!!!!
Low Speed Operation
When the wiper switch is in the low speed position, ground is applied through the switch internal resistor and the wiper switch low signal circuit to the body control module (BCM). In response to this signal, the BCM energizes the WIPER PCB relay by applying battery voltage through the wiper relay control circuit to the coil side of the relay. This allows battery positive voltage from the WPR fuse to flow through the switch input side of the WIPER PCB relay and out to the switch input side of the WIPER HIGH PCB relay. Since the wiper high relay is de-energized and its switch contacts are normally closed to the low speed control circuit of the windshield wiper motor, the motor will operate at low speed.
Wiper motor low speed operation and the wiper PCB relay can also be commanded ON/OFF by using a scan tool. Refer to Control Module References.
The PCB relays mentioned above are soldered right into the circuit board inside the fuse/relay block under the hood . There are alot of reasons for the wipers not to work ! The fuse could be blown but fuse's don't just blow for no good reason , short to ground , low resistance high current flow etc.... Intermittant !

Power and Grounds
With the ignition in the ON position, accessory voltage is supplied through the 25A WPR fuse to the WIPER PCB relay, the WIPER HIGH PCB relay and the WS WASH PCB relay that are all located in the underhood fuse block. Refer to Wiper/Washer Schematics.
G200 provides ground for the windshield wiper motor and the WIPER PCB relay. G100 provides ground for the windshield washer fluid pump and the windshield washer fluid level switch.

I have a 2007 mustang an the wipers wont turn off I had 2 pull the fuse to turn them off can u help me


The windshield wiper motor is a smart wiper motor with an integrated electronics module. The internal components of the motor are the high/low relay, washer pump relay, and the run/park relay and associated electronics.
The windshield wiper motor receives its inputs from the windshield wiper/washer switch. These signals are ground reference signals. When the switch is placed in different positions, various input signals are selected and sent through circuits to the motor. The windshield wiper motor module identifies these selected input signals and activates the motor to the selected function.!
Your probably going to need a new wiper motor ! ! ! But you should always test before replacing parts !

GO to C2 .

No
INSTALL a new windshield wiper/washer switch. REFER to Wiper/Washer Switch in this section. C2 CHECK CIRCUITS 56 (DB/OG), 58 (WH), 61 (YE/RD), AND 63 (RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
  • Measure the resistance between the windshield wiper motor C125, harness side and ground as follows:

  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • pushed-out pins.
  • Connect all the windshield wiper motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?

INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.

Check the fuse first. If the fuse is good check the power going to the wiper motor. If you have power at the switch, then you need a new motor.

Windshield wipers don't work.Fuse is good and motor is good.No power to motor. The tag to tell what relay is for what is missing. Was wondering if the wipers had a relay and which one it is.


Hello Firerocker.
If your washer motor works there is power in the circuit and ground.
The wiper motor housing needs to be grounded.
If neither one works check for power on the green wire leading into the motor. If nothing there your switch may be bad.
If there is power to the green wire then check for power on the gray wire on low wiper speed and power on purple on high speed.
Here is a diagram if you need it.

I changed the relay fuse to my windshield wipers and the knob and my wipers still wont work on my 98 plymoth grand voyager what should i check


Turn wipers on (veh in "on" or "acc" position)
Disconnect the electrical connection at the windshield wiper motor (located in the engine compartment on the fire wall) and check for voltage. If you have voltage, there is a good possibility your windshield wiper motor is bad.
You may also: Disconnect the electrical connection at the windshield motor and run a heavy gauge wire directly from the positive side of the battery to the motor. If you get the windshield motor to come on. There may be only a wiring (short) problem between the relay and the motor.

98 Lincoln TC,Cold starts fine ,runs good until warm, then shuts off. No codes,Cranks ok, have spark, PATS ok. No fuel pressure, cant hear fuel pump prime,New Fuel relay. jumped fuel pump - works. I do not hear fuel pump prime up, do not have fuel gauge, but pressing on valve in fuel rail- no pressurized fuel. Fuel regulator seems ok, not leaking / vacuum line dry as a bone. If I let it set for 15 min , it will start up again, but for a few minutes then dies out. If I let it set overnight it starts up perfectly and runs until operating temp is reached then stalls/stumbles, and shuts down. Vacuum is good while cranking, even with no start, Checked Inertia switch in trunk, it is not tripped. I have seen Ford TSB summaries' that mention issues like this , but I am not able to see to description. A point to add, the MAF sensor was cleaned, then I decided to replace it and did not make a difference. I do not have any stored codes, and the PATS is working fine, typical 2 second flash from and once key is inserted a 3 second steady light, then disappears. I have seen the TSB mentioning C103 Connector, it looks fine, I swapped out fuel pump relay with ac relay, still no difference.mention of wires around battery, do not know where to start. in dash service engine light and odometer is normal, seen other posts the say they only have lines, but mine is ok. the start of all of this , I washed engine with regular garden hose, ( not using pressure washer).also in the mean time, rear window defroster stopped working as well, can not say for same reason, but a mention.My problem started after washing engine. this is one of four Panther platform vehicles I owned with exact 4.6l w code engine, which I rinced down before. The only sensor I can think of is Oil pressure , or a corroded wire
