Same problem. Window came off the track and sunk into the door. I got the door panel off, but the door latch mechanism isn't working from the inside...only the outside. Put the window back on track, but it doesn't stay there if I power down the window, clamps are stretched out I think. Does this whole latch need to be replaced?

I just want to get the darn thing up so I can tape it lol in to place until I cam afford to have it fixed.. any help on getting to the darn piece of glass..? i have a 98 expedition

The only screws holding the door panel are the ones holding the armrest in place. You may find them under the armrest. Remove them. and then using either a trim stick or a small scraper or screw driver, feel around the edges of the door panel for the clips that are holding it in. If you use a screwdriver, use a pair of them as this will give you an even pull since you will put one on each side of the clip and then pull outward. Use a moderate tug to get them loose, not pulling too hard. I prefer to work from the bottom up to the top. Once you have that loose, you will need to get hold of the glass and walk it back into the track. Probably best to have a helper to hold onto it in case you find you need a tool that is not within reach.

Hope this helps.

I need help taking apart my drivers side door on a 95 Pontiac Firebird in order to fix my window that partially fell off of the track. Also what would be the best way to fix the window issue, an adhisive...

If the door fell off the track then either the track is broken or mis-aligned. Don't use glue or tape, find out what caused the door to fall off in the first place and correct it.

Your parts store should have a diagram of the door and can tell you where the screws and pins are, othewise you can just pull out all the visible screws (including the one on the door handle) and the other things holding the door on are plastic push fittings. To take these out you just have to find the fittings and pry at them with a wonderbar.

The parts store can also sell you a new track/motor/etc.

How to take door panel of? window fell off of track i beleieve

there will be 2-4 screws you will need to unscrew. usually one located around inner door handle and 2 of more around arm rest and maybe some on the lower part of the door and panel. the screws are usually covered by plastic covers. you can remove these with a small flathead screw driver to find the screws. after all screw have been removed carefully pry the panel off with plastic pry bar to prevent scratching. it will literally "pop" off with clips. be careful, you dont have to use tons of force, check to make sure all screws have been removed. then the panel will hang there because its still connected to lights, switch, and door handle. remove these connectors and the panel will come right off. if the window fell off the track, it might be as simple as screwing it back on the window regulator. worse case the regulator linkage is cracked and you will need a new window regulator.

My driver side window fell and will not go up or down. The electrical seems to be fine it just dropped. How can this be fixed without taking it to a dealer. Melissa

Melissa, you will need to take the panel off and the interior protection foam and plastic out to get to it. The window is probably off track or the track bar is broke. You need to locate the screws and remove all of them to get the panel off. They are in the corners and on the ends of the panel. They are probably 4-6 screws. Take them out and the panel will remove. You may have one screw around the door handle. There are usually a plastic piece over the door and foam. It all will need removed. After removal, you should be able to check out the window and see what the problem is. If you have a question Melissa, write me back. I am here to help. Thanks for choosing Fixya.

How do I remove driver side door window

You need to remove inner door panel by unscrewing the screws on inner door handle and take a flat screw driver wedge it between the panel and door use flash light to see the clips along the sides and lower part of door and pry them free. then look through the inner door cut outs to find window track. Once you see it use ratchet or screw driver and loosen the window free form track. Then carefully remove window.

Window fell off track on a 1998 ford expedition how do i fix that

sounds like this could be a problem whithe the track or it came loose from the window regulator. very easy to tell what happend. take the door pannel off and just simply look inside. if it is the part that accualy monts to the window that is your regulator. if it looks like it was glued on to the window then you can go to any part store and pick up a tube of uerothane it comjes in a caulk tube apply this to the track on the regulator and put the window back in this will take about 24 hrs to fully cure. also do not close window all the way only about half way untill fully cured or at least 5 hours

Driver's side window fell off the track and into the door. How does the door panel come off after removing the screws?

Starting at the bottom rear corner, pull the door panel away from the door. Sliding you finger along the bottom, continue to pop the clips from the door. Once you have all the bottom clips undone, work your way up the sides. Once those are all popped, you lift the panel upward toward the roof and away from the door, toward you.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
