Question about 2000 Toyota Avalon
2000 Celica 1Z 4 cyl, auto--124,987, just replaced thermostat---not the problem--seems to work only when accelerating---does this car have a heater control valve or something similar? Does the P0446 code its putting out(among 4 others)related? I've never been able to find the source of my P0440 problem, any advice for this would be great too(yes I replaced the gas cap). thank you in advance for assistance
EmWiz is correct. You have to remove the coolant overflow bottle, and RAISE IT UP to eliminate the trapped air in the system. The heater core is above the height of the radiator, and air tends to get trapped in the core. Raising the overflow bottle is the only way to purge the trapped air. Keep adding coolant to the overflow bottle until the bubbles disappear, and you have good heat at idle.
