Dave, The P0700 code is a generic fault code indicating the the TCM (transmission control module) has recognized a problem and the P0755 is the indicated problem. I'd recommend you check your transmission external electrical connector for water intrusion and corrosion at the terminals by disconnecting the connector. If nothing appears wrong, I'd then recommend you drop the lower transmission pan and take a look at the residue deposit that is laying on the bottom of the pan. You should only see a relativily minor amount of grayish, black clutch material residing there. Pay particular attention for a gross amount of this or any large particular material, including any metal, either filings or chunks, or any brass or aluminum. If this checks out to be fairly clean, then I'd recommend you replace that "B" solenoid (2-3 shift solenoid) and have the trans. pan and filter replaced.; I'd also highly recommend you have the trans flushed for anyother particular matter that may reside internally inside the transmission. You'll have to have the codes cleared and the transmission relearned for shift feel, at that point.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. How can I fix my 2004 Dodge Stratus w ith Fault code P0700

Dodge is quirky about voltage, and transmission(DC-PO700) shift selonoids are electronically controlled actuators and your PO622 Diagnostic Code is usually found with voltage irregularity such Wave,Ripple,or square voltage issues(indications that your about to have alternator or battery failure..I would try a new battery and have my alternator checked if codes persist. What does diagnostic code PO0706 and PO700 mean?

OBD II Fault Code
  • OBD II P0706
Fault Code Definition
  • Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
The purpose of the automatic transmission is to match the engine's optimum power and torque characteristics to the driver's desired rate of acceleration and speed by auto-selecting different gear ratios or 'speeds' to power the wheels. The Transmission Range Sensor (also referred to as the PRNDL input and/or neutral safety switch) tells the transmission control module (TCM) and the powertrain control module (PCM) that the transmission is in park, reverse, neutral, drive, low, 2nd, 3rd etc. It is attached directly to the manual valve of transmission, so when the shift lever is moved say from park to drive, the Transmission Range Sensor communicates this critical information to the above mentioned vehicle computer systems.

P0700
Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory.

Put trans in works great but has a code po 0700

DTC P0700 - Transmission Control System Malfunction

Circuit Description for Allison Automatic Transmission
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that a related transmission DTC set in the transmission control module (TCM) . The engine control module (ECM) receives the TCM DTC information over the serial data circuit. The ECM turns ON the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the TCM sends a message over the serial data circuit requesting MIL illumination.

DTC P0700 is a type A DTC.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC: DTC P0700 Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination

Conditions for Running the DTC: The engine is running.

Conditions for Setting the DTC: The ECM receives a serial data message from the TCM, in order to illuminate the MIL.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets:
- The control module illuminates the MIL when the diagnostic runs and fails.
- The control module records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The control module stores this information in the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC (click image for zoom)...

zjlimited_793.gif

The control modul turns OFF the MIL after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
A scan tool can clear the code from TCM history. The TCM automatically clears the DTC from TCM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without failure.

1. Verify power and ground supplies to the TCM when the vehicle is cold.
2. If OK, depending on ambient temperature. If ambient temperature is high and the problem will not show, remove the TCM and place it in a freezer for a couple of hours.
3. If the ambient temperature is low remove the TCM to a warm area for a couple of hours.
4. After sufficiently cold or warm, install the TCM and drive the vehicle immediately.
5. If the ambient temperature is low and the transmission now shifts or the ambient temperature is high and the transmission will not shift replace the TCM.

Hope this helps (remember to rating and leave a testimonial comment) Thank you for using Fixya.

What does these codes mean P1781, P0731, P1784 AND P0700 AND HOW DO I FIX THEM.

p1781 is manufacturer control transmission, p0731 is gear 1 ratio incorrect, p1784 is manufacturer control transmission, p0700 is trans, control system malfunction. all of these codes refer to tranny. This code normally points to a faulty transmission control module, but this is an expensive part and you should have an experienced Dodge technician diagnose the problem first. or a transmission specialist. the other codes are probably associated with the p0700 code. have a good day !

P0700, P0750 and P0755 codes I was driving at 65 mph and the 2003 Dodge Caravan down shifter to low gear and the check engine light came on. It will not ship to high gear.

P0700 (M)
Check Transmission DTC's
This code indicates that the EATX (Transmission controller) has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a BUS message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via a DRBIII tool. (Input or Output Speed Sensor failures often cause this code and are a common failure part on WJ Grand Cherokees

P0750
Shift Solenoid circuit.
Note: If code P1767 (Transmission Relay Always On) is also present: Replace transmission solenoid assembly. See note provided. When transmission is in limp mode the relay that provides power to the solenoid group is switched off. This is normal and is designed to provide operation in one gear only. Engineering department suggests to replace transmission solenoid assembly anytime these two trouble codes occur together. See applicable service manual section (21) for solenoid assembly replacement directions. IMPORTANT: When performing this repair always check torque on all valvebody accumulator cover plate screws. Proper torque specification is 70 inch pounds. If any accumulator cover plate screws are damaged or missing replace the valvebody assembly. NOTE: If any other trouble codes are present do not replace solenoid assembly. See test in the applicable Transmission Diagnostic Procedures Manual

Engine light came on, doesn't up-shift

The transmission is in limp in mode. The check engine light is on because the transmission controller told the engine controller to turn it on. You will have to get the fault codes checked to diagnose the problem. Expect to find a P0700 code in the engine controller. Thats the code for a transmission fault in the trans controller. It could be as simple as an input speed sensor or as complexed as an internal failure. Either way have the transmission fault codes checked for a proper diagnosis.

Check Engine light on and transmission will not shift from low.

Did they erase them by any chance? 2 out of the 3 come up transmission related. Does it feel likes it shifting funny or hard or anything? Not sure if unhooking battery will work on that year or not but worth a try if vehicle seems to shift fine. Then if codes come back, have it checked and repaired at that time, it may be a simple update needed to computer.
