The light is for your alternator. When it comes on its saying your running at a discharge. Check cables first then have your charging system checked.

you need to have the charging system checked to see if its under charging or over charging as these are the only reasons the charge light will come on.there could be a problem with the alternator/regulator that is affected at certain times while driving.

Sounds like there might have been some dirt or sludge in the bottom of the tank that got sucked into the fuel system. First run some fuel system cleaner through it. If that doesn't work change the fuel filter.

I suggest that you have your charging system tested, some auto parts stores offer this service for free. It sounds like your alternator/regulator may be failing.

My 2007 Equinox has a warning light that reads ''Service Battery Charging System'' that comes on when I drive the vehicle uphill. It also has a loud whining noise.

You should get your charging system checked. You will have to take it to a service shop or dealer.Have the charging system load tested. You could have a bad alternator. If you have under 36k miles then you are still under warranty.hope this helps.Good luck.

2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.
