Chevy cavalier 2005 speedometer stuck not working

My speedometer is stuck or not working on my chevy cav 2005 a mechanic says it is a sensor where can i find it and fix it my self or is it possibly a fuse? help anyone? please.. 1998 cavalier speedo jumps from 0 to100 when driving down the road and the nexted time its ok
I've just noticed my '05 cavalier speedometer not working with the cold weather.Sometimes it works, seems like when I've driven a considerable distance (50 miles). Tachometer also works off and on - this was the first thing I noticed when I bought the car last march - speedometer was fine then.

Speedometer worked on and off for months then went to 120 and stayed there. Two speeding tickets later they want $500-600 to replace the instrument panel cluster. Now I have problems with the vehicle over heating even after having the thermostat replaced. Now they say it is the sensor. Does that relate to my IPC by chance?

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and the speedometer only works part-time. Right now it is sitting on 90 mph and only goes up from there! What could the problem be, and is it expensive?

RPM GADGE DOES NOT WORK. SPEEDOMETER ONLY WORKS ABOUT HALF THE TIME.

2005 chevy cavalier- after driving some distance, the speedometer reading gradually drops. After a stop, it resets to correct levels. The problem seems to arise after an acceleration or after some distance.

This is most likely not a speed sensor problem, I see this a lot on 03-05 Cavalier instrument clusters and it's always the same. It's caused by failing stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board and it can be fixed. Check out this page for more about how to get it fixed - cavalier speedometer fix

My chevy cavalier 2005, the speedometer and temperature gauge stopped working. I'm not sure whats wrong and don't want to get ripped off at the dealers. Please help if there is something I can check...

Is the ck engine light on If so take to a auto parts store that will ck the car for codes and that will tell you if the speed sensor is working or not> If the speed sensor is not working the ck engine light will be on and the car will have stored that code.If there are no codes that it is most likely the cluster for the speedometer not working . Now the temperature guage not working is the needle spunaround backwards past the stop If so that replace the cluster .If not than it needs to be ckd for a bad tempature sensor. This should also set a code and turn the ck engine light.

The speedometer in my 2005 cavalier is stuck

the motor inside the speedometer unit has gone bad. it either needs to be replaced or rebuilt. you can usually find these in salvage yards but you stand the chance of getting higher mileage. cheers

That Cluster will work But, You will have to get an Installation kit if you want the Tach to work. Everything else will hook up the Same. You have a Distribution Box (Fuse Box) Under the Hood on the Drivers Side, There is a Fuse in it for the Speedo. Inside the Cover to the Box is the Fuse Diagram or in the Back of the Owners Manual.

If your odometer is working and your speedo needle doesnt indicate correctly then your problem is the stepper motor in the cluster. I have repaired a lot of instrument clusters....cost is 105.00

Google used speed cluster. Buy one and have it installed. I found one for $112 shipped and installed for $30 bucks. Sorry if I posted twice. Good Luck.
