Not an exact estimate but ive been in a shop for years now and id say roughly eight to nine hundred dollars. due to the fact that you can rarely replace only the gasket as usually the reason the gasket blew out is from broken bolts on the manifold which when not holding tension allow the manifold to warp requiring the manifold to be replaced as well.

SOURCE: how to fix blown head gaskets on a 1996 tahoe

its not the head gasket it is the intake manifold gasket and you can bypass all the throttlebody seal by removing all the wires and taking it off these are very bad at doin this cause they have a plastic gasket look up some pics on it it took my and a friend bout 5 to 6 hours to do but the shop wanted 700 dollars so that saved some money.

Location of freeze plug on 2001 malibu

I had a 2000 malibu 3.1 and the manifold gasket was leaking. Model years affected, 97-04. Check the recovery coolant tank and if it looks like a milk shake instead of coolant, then you have a bad intake manifold gasket. I replaced mine a few years ago and all was fine. Engines affected are the 2.4-3.1-and 3.5, look very carefully around the intake manifold and you will see it if its leaking! operating the engine with a coolant/oil mix can result in internal engine damage. Replacing the intake manifold gasket should correct these leaks. Because oil will mix with coolant if gasket is bad. Hope this helps you out! Good-Day!

Stalling and running rough - Hyundai Elantra - 2001-05

The Hyundai Elantra 2001 - 2005, 2.0 L engine is noted for this problem. It will lack power on acceleration and run rough and stall while driving. The engine light will come on for misfire codes. This problem is caused by a vaccum leak at the intake manifold gasket. The gasket is broken and needs to be replaced.
To replace the intake gasket with a new one, remove the 12m nuts holding the intake to the cylinder head. Then pry back( note: you do not have to completely remove the intake manifold here) the intake manifold to gain excess to remove the old gasket. Remove any excess gasket and clean with brake cleans the surface area of the intake. Install the new intake gasket on to the head and carefully install intake on to cylinder head studs. Tighten up nuts gradually and evenly to 15-20 ft.lbs.

I would perform a coolant pressure test because these engines are known for leaking intake manifold gaskets.Check and see if your oil is starting to turn a creamy tan color.

This would be the intake manifold gasket that needs replaced if the diagnosed correctly. It is on the top of the engine. If your husband properly replaced the intake manifold gasket and you still have the problem then the diagnosis was wrong and something else is the problem.

you will have to remove upper intake plenum the black plastic part there is a o-ring around the area you are speaking of. now if this engine didn,t have the intake gaskets replaced before installing now would be good time because if you keep vehicle believe me you will have to do sooner or later these engines came with plastic intake gaskets that are notorious for leaking to do this you will njeed to remove both upper and lower intake manifolds I just started a job on 99 tahoe today before lunch and customer is driving tonight replaced upper and lower intake gaskets fel-pro makes updated gaskets for this engine that has thick metal shim and rubber gaskets a great improvement that ends this problem as for your vacuum leak at opening for fuel lines don,t see often but is possible hope this helps

2001 dodge durango engine rpm's are fluctuating up and down. what could be causing this and could this cause the transmission to shift eractically

Quest#1 Your intake manifold is leaking
Quest#2 Yes
Spray carb cleaner while running at intake manifold gasket , both sides, and check for a difference in running condition while spraying to confirm leak here. Replace all intake manifold gaskets and plenum gasket.
If this does not confirm intake leak , have the Throttle Body cleaned manually by a professional, or yourself using specifically" Throttle Body Cleaner "

How to fix blown head gaskets on a 1996 tahoe

make sure to check the fiting that goes on the heater hose, because they have very coming problem with that, and actually if the leak is between the head and the intake what you need to replace is the lower intake gasket and not the head gasket,
since the head gasket is located between the head and the engine block. check the fiting i'm talking about and let me know how things goes, it might save you a headache
