Question about 1998 Ford Ranger SuperCab
I have a 98 Ranger 4X4. The front hubs will no longer engage, the transfer case is engageing, and the front axles still turn, but the wheels do not. I have had it at the dealer, and they could not fix it. I am pretty sure that it is a vacume problem, as this is how the hubs lock. I just can't get any detailed diagrams / schematics for this. I figured I would just install some manually locking hub kit, but they can't even tell me what kind of front end I have, weather it's 24, 27, or 30 spline axle, etc.....CAn you guys help??
I found a website that explaned that you can remove the hub and dust cover, inside is a spring which holds the hub out, removing this spring and replacing the rubber dust cover and hub will lock your front hubs in continious. as is done on later models, This has worked for my 98 4wd
