I have no steering wheel controls.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2012

are you sure they are on the back side of the steering wheel

  • Anonymous Aug 10, 2012

I double check but there are no controls on the wheel, front or back. Radio just keeps changing channels on it's own.

well either you have another bad radio or a wiring problem maybe the steering collom has the wiring for the controls

SOURCE: HOW TO INSTALL AMP INTO A FACTORY RADIO IN DODGE DURANGO 2002

You can buy adaptor plugs that allow a simple hook up at most car stereo places.  However, when you increase the power going to the speakers you also have to replace the speakers to handle the higher power or you'll toast them.

How do i remove the factory stereo out of my 2002 dodge durango and replace it with an aftermarket stereo and also getting the speaker to work if they are amped

take the plastic thing off that goes all the way around the guages or w.e. then ther should b 2 bolts on the front of the stereo take them out. take out the radio n unconnect wires. then get a wire kit n plug it in and hook it up. if the speakers dont work either get new ones or rewire them using all different wires.

2002 radio msg reads "SCAN sound off"

You can try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and see if that will return the radio to the factory default setting. If you have steeing wheel controls, there is a possibility the seek button on the steering wheel is bad or the wire from the steering wheel to the radio. If that checks ok, then the radio has an internal defect and will have to be replaced.
Good luck.
