Question about 1997 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

Fuel I have a Hyundai Accent Coupe 1997R, it has the eco button but this makes no difference to the fuel, I am getting 22 mpg around town. Does anybody know what is causing it to drink the fuel as much as a Jaguar?? It is costing a fortune in fuel, oh and it does not have a low fuel light either

My 2001 hyundai accent is using up too much gas need help

city driving is 22-24 mpg depending on whether manual or automatic.

Driving style plays a big part in fuel economy. Anticipate braking, in fact try not to use your brakes. Accelerate like there is an egg under your right foot and you don't want to crack it. Also, it is better to keep the tank full as half a tank has lot of room for evaporation of gasoline.

Poor gas mileage

Cause you're driving a bus. lol. Mileage will vary depending on what fuel you use, how you drive, and where you're located. typically what i've seen on trucks like yours, i'm asuming it's a 6.0 liter, is anywhere from 12-19 mpg. you should see around 15mpg for the most part. if you do a lot of in town driving, expect a lot less. @9-12. if it's less than that, i'd start lokking in to it. try running a K&N air filter and use synthetic engine oil. I've seen noticeable improvements with power and mpg's with that. Also, ensure that your tires are properly inflated as that can make a difference in mileage. use the recomended fuel octane and change fuel filters.

That doesn't sound like a bad car. They are pretty decent running cars. I would check the transmission operation and the fluid level and color. Honda Civics are a little more dependable, but a little more expensive to fix. If the car has been maintained, it should be ok. Make sure you give a good test drive around town and out on the highway.

Accent 1.5 air fuel mixture problem

Try disconnecting the battery for a while to reset the ECU and see if that helps any. Otherwise I would start checking for vacuum leaks. You can do that by spraying a little carb cleaner around where the suspected leaks would be. If the engine rpms go up then it is burning the carb cleaner off and you have a leak. Check around the intake manifolds and throttle body as well as any air hoses around them.
