Interior lights stay on with doors closed.

The lights stay lit, just as if a door was left open. You can drive with the lights staying on. All doors are closed. Doors were checked several times, and this has turned into a re-acurring problem. Help

Im guessing your door ajar light is lit, if not maybe its burnt out or if bought used, disconnected by previous owner, cause this can be a problem that occurs, disappears and reoccurs. its most likely the door ajar switch which are are inside the door by the latch rather than in the door jams like the older models. 1st thing is to figure out which door it is and im sure youve shut and reshut the doors repeatedly to eliminate that as the cause. put the key in the ignition, do not start and open drivers door, if it chimes its good, now start the vehicle and one by one open the other 3 passenger doors one by one, ea door should create a single chime, if not thats the door that needs the door ajar switch replaced. 20 dollar part, tight work space. this happened with my 2001 styleside f-150 supercrew lariat and i pulled the #1 relay to save the battery. truck ran fine just no interior lights till i could get around to fixing it. in the meantime my headlight switch burnt out $160 part. not confirmed yet but one souce reported running w/out that relay in could cause a multitude of problems. so beware if youre running iiit w that relay pulled. im still checking into that as a cause or coincidence

Interior lights stay on wile i'm driving my 2005 lincoln navigator

Only one bad door switch should do that

The 20 min time out is the GEM or Body Module,
which is normal only because you have a bad switch,
otherwise it goes to sleep when either front door opens

Put radio on & open a door, the radio should go off
& kill the time delay if no issues exist

2003 ford explorer driver side door opens and closes by itself and interior lights stay on while driving

The opening and closing by itself is either the door being out of alignment or the Door pin being worn and in need of replacement. As far as the interior lights staying on, look for the brightness control for the dashboard lights. If that is turned all the way to the brightest setting there is a position just past that which turns the interior lights on continuous. Make sure it is not in that position. If it is not in that position and the lights are staying on with all doors closed, to include the rears, and you have checked the switch on the dome light itself to make sure it isn't set to ON, then the problem is a switch in one of the door jams being grounded or a wire was tapped into the power circuit for the dome light that has grounded. This happens when the LoJack installer or Alarm installer makes the mistake of tapping the light circuit for power.

I'm not sure which passanger door you're taking about, but i'll assume it's the front passanger door. What I think is happening is that the passanger door's not pushing the Door Switch all the way down when it's close cause the light to stay on.

First check to see if the door switch(to see the switch, open passanger door and it located lower left coner. see picture below) is work by push on. The interior light should go out when push down and on when release.
k42282_35.jpg -If switch is not working, replace door switch.
-if switch is working, adjust passanger door inward by loosing the door striker(A) bolts(B) and tipping it with a hammer. Adjust until door open/close proplery and light stay off when door is close.

Interior lights staying on causing dead battery. also interior lights flash off and on when driving

Inside the door jamb is a little plunger the it pushed in when the door is closed. It sounds like it is not working properly. If it was working properly it turns on the interior lights when you open the door and turns them off when you close the door. Hope this helps.

How do you get the interior lights to come on when a door is open

Hi, viewer. The interior light is powered and controlled by the body control module or BCM. However, there is an on/off button beside the main headlight switch that overrides the interior lighting function. If this button is off, interior lights will not come on regardless of any door being closed or opened.

If this button is on, interior lights will come on whenever a door is opened. If you close all doors, and if the driver door is the last to be closed, the interior lights will stay on for about 30 sec and then the lights goes off automatically. In case you left any door opened too long, the BCM has an internal timer that will shut off the interior lights automatically when it detects that a door is still opened and the allowable time has elapsed. The BCM is programmed this way to protect the battery circuit and functions. : )

Interior lights stay on when the switch is off and car is parked

is the door ajar light on sometimes also when driving? I had a similar problem with the light staying on. I determined that it was the passenger front door latch sticking. I opened the door, then took a screwdriver to push the latch shut on the door jamb. (Make the truck think the door is shut even though it is open). Then lubricate that jamb and pull the handle open to open the door. Keep doing this (closing with screwdriver and opening with handle) until the latch works freely. This took care of my light and door ajar problem.

Interior Lights Stay On

You have a door adjar light sticking in one of the doors or deck lid.
Take you a can of WD40 open each door and spray it into the latch on the on the side of the doors then open and close it a few times, this will take car of the problem most of the time. Start with the driver door first it is usually the one.

2003 Explorer door ajar light stay on when all doors are closed

I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.
