Question about 2000 Ford Ranger SuperCab

2000 Ranger 4 cyl auto w/ac, no heat, temp guage doesn't move

My Ranger is not getting any heat, temp gauge is staying on cold. I bought a thermostat at Autozone and they told me it goes on the block at the end of the lower radiator hose. I looked and cannot find where it would go, without removing a bunch of other stuff. Any suggestions?

Temperature gauge on 2000 catera is staying on cold as if caris not heating up

If it is actually warm, but the gauage has not moved, you probably have a bad temp sensor that feeds the guage. On some cars there are 2 temp sensors, 1 for the computer to it knows how much fuel to give based on coldness, and one for the guage that just shows you in the dash what the temp is. The other 2 ideas would be a bad gauge and a bad wire/cable from the sensor to the gauge. There is not much else it could be if in fact the reading is wrong.

thermostat in correctly? is it stuck? air lock?
try letting the engine warm up a bit then tap the thermostat housing with the handle of a wooden screwdiver or something (NOT A HAMMER)

The temp guage stays on cold and no heat

Thermostat is stuck in the OPEN position. Replacing it is the solution.. New thermostat is about $10 plus labor and new anti-freeze. Should run you less than $100 at a REPUTABLE shop.

96 mustang v6 temperature guage reads around the "m" letter on guage, and even at "a" letter on the "normal" area of guage readout....seems like it's running a bit hot, but i'm not a ford expert. I got...

some of the factory gauges aren't very accurate if the fluid level is good and you get good heat inside I wouldn't worry about it, but I would keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't over heat. If your still worried I would go to an auto parts store and pick up a temp. gauge there perty easy to install
