Took my 99 Sunfire to Pep Boys because the starter was busted. After changing the starter, for which they had to disconnect the battery. The car would not start. They said the battery was bad so they...

first , find an accredited shop that knows what they are talking about as you are being led by your wallet
the first check in any good shop is a load test on the battery, clean and tighten the battery terminals , the pull and bench test the starter , then repair / replace as necessary
removing the battery activates the immobilizer so it is necessary to reset using a scan tool
From your statement , none of those things were done so the shop has little knowledge of repairs
the system can be bypassed but I consider it not necessary if proper procedures are followed

My abs break light comes on when i have to hit my breaks hard. sometimes it comes on and go's out after i turn the car off.I was told that i needed a left wheel hub bearings. It's a 98 acura 3.2 TL I was...

This is most likely one of 2 things 1 the abs sensor on one wheel is faulty, not uncommon cost about $80 for a new one. or you can clean the old one as often they get dirty from brake dust.

secondly the brake pads may need replacing, the ABS warning light is to let you know that these may need replacing, often when it is the brakes they will fel different as you press it down, sometimes they push back up towards you as your pushing down. I would have the back brakes checked as that is normally the cause.

you can still drive the car no problem.
hope that helps

I dont thinks its a good idea to disconnect a built in safety feature, But if you pull the fuse, its not going to work. the fuse is under the hood, 50 amp ABS fuse, in the fuse box under the dash 10 amp abs fuse

ABS light comes on in a 1996 pontiac sunfire

usually that means your low on brake fluid, check and add first, also make sure the cap is screwed on and secure. If the light still is on, try shutting off traction control if you have it, drive on some gravel and see if you can hear your brakes winding.
I have a 99 pont bonneville, abs light was on, fluid was full, took off my front two tires, there is a sensor i cleaned out with contact cleaner, and it worked. hope this helps.

ABS problem with GMC 2002 Sierra

its a low speed abs activation the problem is in the front sensors they need to be cleaned or replaced they [or one] probably has some corrosion on the sensor --[the 99 chevy tahoes had a limited recall over this issue and the fix was to remove and clean the abs sensor or if to corroded replace ] this problem doesnt set off an abs code or trouble light also sometimes the abs will activate by itself at under 4 mph without even touching brake

My abs light came on what does that mean

There might be a problem with the ABS sensor. See if you can have it cleaned out. It is located at the hub for the brakes. Check as well the wires attached to it that goes to the ABS box. If that does not work if you know someone with a similar car, try to swap ABS box and see if the error go away. If it goes away, have the box checked out otherwise have the sensors and the breaks checked out.

Brake light & ABS light on, speedo problem

I recently had the same problem on my 99 dakota R/T. My symptoms included the abs and brake light staying lit, speedo failing to work at all speeds and the truck would occassionally stall when coming to a stop. I ended up replacing the rear abs speed sensor (on top of the rear diff) and all is well now. The truck runs exactly as it should. You are looking at a $30-$35 dollar part.
