Try eautorepair.net
you can get short term (or long term) access to detailed repair manual for your car model, for VERY few bucks if you just get the short term (I think a day or two) access.

SOURCE: How do I change front axle seals on a 2005 chevy 4...

remove the cv axle from the side you are changing. then on the parrengers side unbolt the housing from the frame and unbolt the housing extension tube from the rest of the housing. the bearrings and seal should be there ready for removal. on the drivers side hook your slide hammer to the axle flange and beat the #$@% out of it. tryy not to pry on the housing it is easy to break. good luck my dad has a 8 lb slide and he has been sliding away for over an hour with no luck, he is ready to pull the housing split it in half and press it out. hope this helps.

How to replace front wheel bearrings on a 2005 aveo

the front wheel bearings on this model are pressed into the knuckle. This means the knuckle will need to be removed from the vehicle and then brought to either a machine shop are a repair facility than can press the old bearing out and then press in the new bearing.

Removing the knuckle should be fairly self explanatory.
-Separate the tie rod from the knuckle.
-remove the brake caliper.
-remove the rotor.
-remove the axle nut.
-separate the lower ball joint from the knuckle.
-remove the drive axle from the hub.
-remove the knuckle from the strut.

It is very important that the axle nut be torqued to the proper spec once the bearing has been replaced. Failure to do so will result in the bearing failing prematurely. It is also advisable to get a bearing from a quality, reputable, manufacturer. This is not the time to shop with you check book but it also doesn't mean you need the most expensive one either.

2004 Aveo sounds like a helicopter!!

I have been tricked by the wheel bearings many times. i had to invest into a chasis listening device so i could be more acurate in my diagnosis for my customers. what i am getting at is you probably had two bad bearings when you replaced the right one that was louder. the axle bearing is the wheel bearing wich now contains the hub too. make sure the axle nut has been torqued to the manufactures recommendations of "THEIR" part. 3 different manufacturers = 3 different torques. believe me i've had my suppliers send out two different make hub/bearings and had two different torque values. i like to use oem parts. Check to see if their is a bulletin or recall for those as they shouldn't have gone bad that soon unless you have a ton of miles on it.
Good Luck..........Scott

Rear axle

My 2004 had the same problem at 102,000 kms, warranty was up at 100,000 kms. GM would not do a thing and was very rude about it. I figured at 4 years old, I should not need a whole new axle, but the bushings are not separate from the axle, so the whole axle had to be replaced. I found a fairly new axle (from a 2006 with only 16,000 kms on it) at a salvage place for $350 (would have been $500 new at the dealership). They scrap the vehicles and sell the parts, try one of those, you may get it much cheaper.
