Question about 1999 Toyota Camry

Ignition is stuck on a 1991 camry

No amount of wiggling or pulling will allow the key to turn I thing I need a new ignition, but I am unable to get the **** shell off of the steering columns, I understand that I may be able to release the ignition if I can find the release with a hook, unsure if I need to be able to have it in accessory position to release. If so I may need to get it to a shop??

If you are unsure of how to take the cover off take it to a mechanic. There are bolts underneath the column and you may need to dissamble some of under the column and dashboard to remove

I have a 95 camaro, I put the key in ignition and it will not turn the ignition. It's like it's stuck. Replaced the ignition module and still cannot turn ignition. Help!

the ignition module (ignition switch on top of the steering column) normally doesn't get stuck.

things you can try:
steering wheel lock: (the pin gets a "burr" on it and locks everything up) wiggle steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key.

transmission lock (parking on an incline will jam up the interlock)
push the shifter farther into park while trying to turn the key, or wiggle shifter

Hello.
This, unfortunately, is a very common problem. Here are a few things you can try if you haven't already;

Grab the steering column, and agressively yank it back and forth with your left hand while pulling on the key with your right hand.

Sometimes you can wiggle the gear shift, ( with an automatic transmission ), to make sure the transmission is locked into the Park position.

This is usually the result of an ignition that is warn, and may need to be replaced in the near future.

FYI, local locksmiths can usually repair/replace ignitions for a fraction of the cost of having a dealership do it.

I hope this helps you!

The ignition is stuck on the ON position on my '91 firebird. The key will not turn forward or backward but the key is able to be pulled out. Need help please!

Does it have air bags? If not remove horn cover, you need replace the key tumbler, with key in ignition you should see a small tab ( metal) button that you need to push in and at the same time kinda turn the key just slightly and pull out. have new ingnition tumbler with you and install is basically the reverse.

TURN THE KEY WILL NOT START JIGGLE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND IT WILL START SOMETIMES 1991 CAMRY V6 WAGON , NO PROBLEM WITH BATTERY, WON'T START AT ALL

You need to have the ignition switch replaced. You can do it yourself, but you would need a manual to tell you how to take the steering column apart.

Key is stuck in ignition. Even with it in "Park", the key will not turn to the "lock" position so I can pull the key out.

i understand, unfortunately the switch teeth inside are bad therefore is not allowing the key to come out. you will have to replace it. Now there's one trick that will take the key out only. spray wd40 inside the ignition and with a pliers grab the end of the key and wiggle and yank, wiggle and yank, wiggle and yank. good luck and once again u will need a new switch assembly with key. just around 35 bucks. PS. MAKE SURE IT COMES WITH THE TUMBLER.
