You need to drain half a litre coz if it is to the full mark on the stick when the engine is hot the oil expands and registers overfull on the sensor

Will the check engine light come on when it is time for an oil change?

It may, but you should not rely on that. Change your oil every 6 months, or 7,500 miles.

Here is you maintenance schedule and guide

On the Mercedes C-240 the oil sencor light came on with the A service oil change .I had the oil changed and now the oil level light comes on. And this is on a 2005 C-240 4-matic .

Could be the person who changed it never ran the motor and then topped it off once the filter was full. Have you checked the oil level after you let the car sit overnight to make sure the oil level is on full? I would say it could be a bad oil level sensor, except that the coincidence of coinciding with an oil change is too obvious.

Oil light is blinking. Not due for an oil change for another 1000 miles.

Have you checked the engine oil level? This could be due to low engine oil or just a faulty oil pressure switch. Hope this helped...

Need help with oil light

If your oil light is on, then it'll mean either your oil level is below the recommended level; the oil pressure sensor is bad, there's a leak somewhere reducing the pressure of the oil); the oil pump is faulty

Reduce oil

reduce oil would indicate that probably too much oil was added into the engine. park vehicle on level ground and check the engine oil level. it shouldn't be past the full mark on the dipstick..if there is too much in there, you will have to drain some...two way, siphon out of oil dipstick tube (hard but not impossible) or open the oil drain plug at the bottom and drain some of the oil..

good luck.. if still have problems, post it up
cheers bry
